Mira the kitty is training Nyra the puppy dog in the finer points of why kitties are always in charge. Always.

They are so adorable.

When Partner and her two cats and me and my one dog moved in together, I was hoping for a scene like this. I wasn't too optimistic about Clyde, she was Partner's Spirit Cat, and didn't much fancy me or my dogstink. But I thought the Huntress Snickerdoodle (about whom Ian Anderson penned the song "Hunting Girl" -- I swear! Okay, he *would* have if he'd known her.) would be a solid bet to take no shit form a dog no matter his size. And Tonka wasn't all that concerned with cats, they'd wander through the yard and he'd bark, but that's cuz they were on his turf.

Nope. Snickerdoodle took one look at an awake Tonka, did a full Electricat, flew upstairs in a flash of torticoblur and disappeared in a puff of cartoon smoke. She'd sneak up on him on occasion when he was sleeping, but if he stirred at all *poof!*. But since he had spent all of his previous 11 years living in a 1-story house and didn't really know how ot do stairs, he never saw the second floor of our house. And that was ... okay, though I never got used to him sleeping downstairs while I was upstairs.

Upfist for " torticoblur"

This reminds me of my mother in law’s cat, Toto, who adores her dog.

She just bossed the dog around and grooms her and then wears her out and cuddles!

Marlon Rando's avatar

It is assumed that cats run everything; imagine if Toto weren't there to govern.

The day we've all been waiting for

Has finally come to pass

And if you haven't voted blue

You can kiss my Georgia ass.

Seriously, I'm keeping my eyes on the southeast. There has been much change in

demographics down here and while it may not yet be enough to flip a lot of districts,

if margins of loss are narrowed for Democrats, the 2028 and post census 2030 elections could be game changers.

Yeah, I did that last week - I've never voted a straight party ticket before but did this year. Of course, in Indiana, that doesn't cover everything...

We're talking about pool, with a capital P and that rhymes with T and that stands for Trump!

Oh, wait, it stands for Trouble! (trouble, trouble, trouble, trouble) ....

A brilliant scene from "The Music Man", later satirized equally brilliantly by The Simpsons in "The Monorail Song".

I know Zach Dembro - D (KY-6th) and feel very good about him winning that seat. He's a great and capable guy. My congressman, Morgan McGarvey -D (KY-3rd) will win his seat back and that will make 2 Dems from KY in the House. Finally!

Don't know why a stronger candidate could not be found to run against Jimmy boy Comer R - 1st district hick-a-billy-moron. That district is insanely gerrymandered and far western KY has a lot of the religious folks who...well, you know.

Same with N. KY district 4. Ed Gallrein-R -NUTCASE is running for Massie's old seat. Young woman, Melissa Strange -D hasn't got a chance. District 4 will regret this though, but he'll be one of those guys we make fun of the next 2 years, cuz nutcase! Trust me, we'd ALL rather have Massie.

I'm going to hold on to my long shot bet/wish that Charles Booker somehow pulls it out for Mitch's seat against that fool Andy Barr. Long shot, but how I would LOVE for THAT to be THE STORY - the candidate that no one talked about, the 99% chance of losing, the blah guy for KY, ...the win that shocks the nation! I noticed even Ken Martin came through with some last minute monies for that race after Charles being ignored all summer. trump/elon whoever, threw a bunch of last minute monies into this race too so that tells me something's up with that contest. Some polls claim this race is tied at 43%...but you know....pffffffffft....polls.

It will take a long time to chip away at the Super Majority Rs in the state legislature, but hoping we make some progress there today.

late: Massie will run against Rand Paul in '28.

Morning and welcome to Election Day. Hoping that we get the win we want.

Reading a story in New Republic sounds like Haley’s creep finance wielded some strong influence over her and that that may have been her turnaround. Stupid woman. Never change your life for some dick.

Don Jr is so stupid he thinks that Ohio isn’t a state. One that was established in 1803. Duuuude! Wikipedia is your friend hard as it might be that you have friends.

Daniel O'Riordan's avatar

It's also the only state whose state flag is a pennant.

That should blow Don, Jr.'s mind.

SunMoonStars's avatar

He's been snorting extra. I don't think he's going to do well before a congressional committee.

EyeQueue's avatar

I have learned to stay far, far away from men-centered women.

SunMoonStars's avatar

I can't tolerate them. They don't think for themselves and have to run to the male for validation and permission. They walk behind them in every way.

Lance Thrustwell's avatar

There is a crude term for the male equivalent. Rhymes with 'wussy tripped.'

Anna-Elizabeth's avatar

Male-centered women are a danger to all.

Sherry's avatar

They’re exhausting. No matter what you plan together it’s always pre-empted for what their boyfriend wants to do at the last minute.

EyeQueue's avatar

Oh, I've had friends completely drop me until the relationship was over and then come back wanting a friend.

And I put up with it for years.

No more.

OT: I can't think of the last time I fucked my back up this badly. It was already a little tweaked, and then I went climbing yesterday and exacerbated it bigly. Feel a little nausea. Ibuprofen and acetaminophen Q6. This too shall pass.

What's the point of paying these gazillion dollar healthcare premiums if we can't get what we want?

Lance Thrustwell's avatar

Laudanum. Get a tincture from the apothecary. Kick it old school.

EyeQueue's avatar

I'm going to take up growing laudanum and advertise myself as a healing witch who also practices weathercraft.

SunMoonStars's avatar

Ouch and I hope you mend quickly. Me and my heating pad are close.

Lance Thrustwell's avatar

Sympathies, I haz them. I messed up my back once in Michigan, picking up a 90-lb senior-citizen golden retriever to put him in a car. Needed a shot in my back and muscle relaxers just to make the drive back to the East Coast.

The good news is that it healed completely! Bet yours will too.

Ok ok ok I’m UP. Walking to vote later this morning, at a nice little volunteer fire station about a mile away. Like you, I’m watching the big races but also? Miami-Dade and Orlando. Polls there close at 7pm, and I want to see how much support that stupid orange vulgarian has lost.

Today, please God, let this be the start of holding this corrupt administration accountable. I’ve never seen a midterm like this in my life, with record breaking turnout. I’ve waited for participation like this for DECADES.

Lance Thrustwell's avatar

What the absolute fuck? What kind of depraved vulgarity is that? I... Jesus. I can be somewhat crude on occasion. But even I would not call even the most egregious Republican woman some sort of animated Fleshlight. That's cartoonishly vile misogyny. If that were my relative, she would not be allowed in my house until she made a public apology of some kind.

Just goes to show that given equal opportunity, women can be just as vile and stupid as men.

EyeQueue's avatar

This. And this has been a hard lesson for me to learn. :(

It's misogynistic to think that women can't be as vile and as destructive as men in some cases.
