I'll say it again. He's killing his own residents on the regular without hesitation, why would he give a damn about people who aren't Texans?

He murdered a four year old with those. A four year old child. Who will be forever dead.

I hate that guy. I loath Trump and the others but Abbott is uniquely vile.

Trump, Abbott, DeSantis, Giuliani, McConnell... So many loathsome conservatives. It's a target rich environment for loathing.

Feds: remove the barriers and destroy them, repeatedly, if necessary. Send Texas the bill.

Make Texas make a case for getting their barriers back.

Don't wait to fight a stupid legal battle, make them fight the stupid legal battle that can be summarily dismissed for standing.

Not a lawyer, so I am probably missi g something, but the river is Federally managed, manage it.

I am a former Corp of Engineers offshore inspector, and the judge is exactly right. You need a permit to install something like the buoys in the water and you also need one to install razor wire or any other type of objects below the normal high water line. You definitely also need a permit to drive excavators out into the water to install the buoys. Fines can be significant

What's the actual process to red tag and remove non permitted structures? I don't imagine it has to go to court first. Just go red tag it, or whatever the equivalent is.

What about emergency escalation for immediately dangerous conditions? There has to be a process to allow immediate action, and bill the perpetrator later.

There’s no doubt the pro-lifers would watch a game show like “Running Man” as entertainment as long as the contestants were their inferiors.

Maybe the Fed adopting Sherman's "chose means of waging war" is in order once again. Frankly, in 1869, Sheridan and 200,000 USCT's should have gone back and cleaned the place out, and given all the land to the Freedmen, the way it was promised.

Excellent take-down by the judge - love it. But even better is Evan's interpretation - couldn't stop laughing. It's why I keep coming here.

I lived in the Phoenix area during the S. B. 1070 debacle. Immigration is, Constitutionally, under the jurisdiction of the federal government, and, much like this case, the federal government took serious issue with S. B. 1070. If the Red States want to secede so badly, how about we let them?

If the Dems would just go along with the GOPers "no Fed money to States" fantasy, the CHUD denizens of trumpistan, who have been living off our largesse since 1865, would be dead in 6 months while Blue States throve.

GaseousAnomaly's avatar

Indeed. It's become a regular thing in Texas to entertain the idea of secession, but Conservatives there have no clue what that would actually MEAN, or the impact it would have. That's what happens when you live in a custom reality based on the media you consume.

But it's great red meat for the horde of drooling goons that is the GOP base.

They have no idea that it would add at least $20billion to their budget, strip them of the billions we give them, and bankrupt the shithole in a few weeks.

Texas has more military bases than any other state...GOODBYE!! We know they have their own power grid, but we also know IT SUCKS due to lack of regulation (remember, Abbot blamed it on wind power), and I've got to believe that unregulated refineries will certainly explode given enough time.

Democrats need to find some backbone and take a position on how Abbott's "Biden's Open Border" messaging is meant to soothe the nerves of scared wypipo, which is basically the GOP's only angle these days. You're going to have to take the gloves off and use stark language, probably include some biblical references in the context of holding up detractors of immigration reform to a standard specified in the book they pretend to interpret as the word of Gawd. Try to link GOP efforts to shut down immigration to rising prices for essential goods. At the same time, be real, they cry about "illegal immigrants" but their goal is NONE if it's going to affect the whiteness of the power structure.

It grinds my gears and teeth that Abbott hides behind Texas in his murderous argument. Like Rick Perry saying we’d rather freeze to death than deny million dollar buyoffs, I mean bribes, I mean donations to our murderous governor by murderous Robber Barons, I mean Energy Tycoons, not a single one of them has the balls to ask Texans what they want in a truly free and fair election. He needs to own his hateful, xenophobic shit and use his name, not Texas, in his arguments as to why he should be able to kill with impunity.

I read that they could not see the razor wire until they were in it. But It really does look so innocent just bobbing along. Like a lure.
