Borrowed the word from excited commenters in the same thread. Some of whom were actually implying intent to kill. Hyperbole is the name of this discussion anyway, in fact it's a core Wonkette value.

She was convicted, but continues to claim she was framed by the guy who cut a plea deal. So I think alleged is still acceptable. It's not like D.A.'s and jurys are infallible, especially in political cases.

You are deflecting the discussion here. About whether your description of the disturbance is hyperbolic.

Living in France certainly gives me an alternative view, which is relevant in a discussion of something that is fairly specific to America.

And I did not bring up the 1995 strikes to boast of being French, but because they are a more massive version of the slight disturbance which you are painting as an "utter havoc". You are in bad faith here.

Absolutely. Creating 4 days of traffic jams ranks high up on the scale of political corruption. Alongside fabricating intelligence to justify initiating a trillion-dollar war, or signing off on abduction and torture programs, or approving a coup in a foreign country, or consorting with drug traffickers in exchange for them providing weapons to anti-communist rebels, or approving a $30 billion program for a plane that doesn't fly, or supporting FBI smear programs, or turning a blind eye to a corp' s dumping of chemicals in a drinkable water source, or being bought by the city mob boss, or any of a thousand other known instances of political corruption.

4 days of traffic jams is stratospheric evil. Lock Her Up.

Back when I was a teen I spent two years in the US and attended junior high and senior high school. With my paltry three years of French school English, I regularly made top grades in my American school English Honors class. Draw your own conclusions...

Lol. Again. Just because there have been worse crimes does not mean she gets off the hook.

But I applaud. Very impressive whataboutism. Putin would be proud.

We can't ever bring anyone to account anywhere because some one somewhere committed a worse crime.

Lol. What? Do you sleep with her?

You have no trouble convicting Bush over fabricating evidence without it being tested in a court of law, but this poor little blonde lady who wrote an email saying it was time for traffic on the bridge... well she's pure as driven snow. Unless you sat on the jury though, you didn't hear all the evidence.

Sure juries get it wrong. So do DAs. It's one if the reasons I don't support the death penalty. It's your prerogative to call her innocent. It's my prerogative to call your opinion baseless and worth the pixels it is written with.

By the way... flint? Oh they are moving forward with criminal convictions in that case too. No doubt you will argue how terrible that is, since bush hasn't been convicted of a crime.

Yes. Since I am not from Ft Lee, NJ I couldn't possibly know what the situation was like. You, on the other hand are from Paris so you know ALL about it! You seem to know a lot about our judicial system. Have you heard about our ridiculous appeal process? By the time it's all done she won't serve any near where what she was sentenced. Good bye.

Did I call her innocent ?

On the contrary, the point is I wasnt special. But I'd obviously learnt things about English in french school that my american classmates hadn't learnt.

Just trying to help you with that furriner thing you were wondering about.

Being French you have the same admiration for Jerry Lewis and mimes that you do for Chris Christie. Zoot Alures.
