Weasel Cat?

satch's avatar

"They are solitary and territorial, using scent glands and urine to mark their home ranges, and they will establish latrine sites at the edge of their turf to delineate a border. When startled or injured, they have been known to squirt a foul-smelling substance from their anal glands to deter interlopers."

So I guess we won't be making pets of them ...

Martini Glambassador's avatar

I didn’t much go into it in the post, but about 1000-1500 years ago, they were kept as semi-feral pets by the Moors, who used them to keep the rodent population down. That practice eventually faded away after people learned that cats were easier.

But apparently, there are still some folks out there who want one: https://www.thesprucepets.com/pet-genets-1239556

Ooo no, I'm sorry. It's The Moops. The Moops.

Whaat? Lemme see that card!

sorry it says 'Moops"

In English, we say jéh-nit

But be that as it may

I much prefer the French way

And so would Jean Genet.

Tommymo's avatar

Genet, in his early life, was imprisoned multiple times, for vagrancy, petty theft, and “lewd” acts, including prostitution. As far as I know, though, he never sprayed anyone with foul-smelling substances from anal glands.

Susanneh's avatar

That was a nice read, and I went on to read about the buntarong, another animal I've I never heard of. The genet is only 4 pounds!

Hang on, I'm getting my carrier.

She's lovely. I had no idea such a kitty existed and beautifies the land. Thanks!

Martini Glambassador's avatar

Isn’t she gorgeous?! More of a civit than a cat, but does share some feline-like traits.

The Estivating Hibernian's avatar

Is she French? Jeanne? Does she write plays and poetry? Smoke Gauloises, perhaps?

She's just a prisoner of love.

Yeah, that's nasty.

What's nastier is walking into a spiderweb and discovering that the spider has hitched a ride on you.

ElderlyLoudCatWomyn's avatar

At one point while I was living in GA, a spider built a massive web that stretched from a pine tree about five feet from the house to the house. Took me a week to get up the nerve to go out there with a broom and knock it down.

When I was in rehab for my spinal issues,. my favorite CNA was a young woman originally from Ethiopia, her name was Genet.

She was the kindest person I've ever met, always smiling.

Tommymo's avatar

They tried to make me go to rehab. I said No, No, No…..

Martini Glambassador's avatar

Lovely name. In Amheric it means “Paradise.”

I never knew and am even a fan of the war correspondent, Genet. Tysm for educating me today!

They can’t even bother to put pants on the guy. They plop him up, yank his robe off then pull a precaution’s shirt over his head, has some lady he doesn’t recognize sit next to while they tell him to smile big so his smile doesn’t droop as much. No video because that would show him looking at people as he tries to remember their names and him struggling to say it when he has a guess.

And while this is kabuki, I like to think of it as a version of hell for Mitch. Him being trapped in this useless shell on wishing to die quietly, peacefully. But he can’t. Because he doesn’t deserve it, sure. But also because Trump isn’t done with him.

I figure he was one of those kids in his grade school probably did that too—all Katie is so stupid we smart kids know the paste is too good to eat. The teacher thinking yeah you drink the duplicator fluid too but I’m passing you anyway I am not dealing with this another year.

[School basketball team huddled in prayer]

Coach Strickland: Dear Lord, if it be within your great wisdom and mercy, please grant us the strength and courage to beat the hell out of the Central High Muskrats. And if...

Tommy Solomon: Uh, excuse me, Coach?

Coach Strickland: We're in the middle of a prayer, Solomon.

Tommy: Yeah, but do you think we should be bothering God over a basketball game?

Coach Strickland: Well, this is important!

Tommy: But the other team's praying too.

[Everyone looks at the other team]

Tommy: Oh, so our God is stronger than their God?

Coach Strickland: There's only one God, Solomon.

Tommy: Ah. Well, am I the only one seeing a conflict of interest here?

Coach Strickland: Yes!

"Many people do not know that there were two attempts to kill Hitler with boms. They also do not know why the first bom did not explode. I know why. The German army officers who planted the first bom on Hitler's plane used a defective spelling of the word 'bom' where they added a second and silent 'B' to their bom. The silent 'B' brings failure and death. The next bom did explode but Hitler had titanium underwear wicsh saved him. I wear the shame kind of titanic underwear. Titan! Such a big and strong word. The guy carrying the world on his back. Charles Atlas! He's a Titan. Big man. Strongman. Big strong man with tears in his eyes came to me and said "Sir! Remember the Titanic! Cuba sank it in Havesome harbor and we need to raise it back up.""

Someone should tell Donnie John that the President of Mexico's command of the English language, is far superior to his own.

I don't see why the vulgarian would make young people less likely to go to church - it's not like he goes, unless it's something he think's will benefit him (good pr for funerals, etc.). I imagine after Bishop Budde's sermon, he's even less likely than before, to attend church.

I agree with Collins. Edited because my brain was awry this morning.

The existence of Trump without divine punishment kind of undermines the idea of a just and caring God.

And if he doesn't care, why should we?

Tommymo's avatar

Are you thinking of Kristin Welker? A video of her yukking it up with Herr Miller at the WHCA dinner has gone viral.

Ellie still in the mix in 26's avatar

MY BAD! I absolutely was! Thank you for the correction. Will edit.

Rosy red ASS's avatar

Probably because many of those churches were telling their parishioners to vote for tRump because of the EVIL DEMONCRATS taking away their freedumbs.

Ellie still in the mix in 26's avatar

I suppose that's true, but that's the churches driving away their youth (stupid and short-sighted) not the existence of the vulgarian.

Anzu's avatar

Also, they preach against the liars, pedophiles, and adulterers, then told them to vote for one.

Cheers Y'all's avatar

Welp, at least that gives us a solid on how Rs think about healthcare: "You pay for me, but not for thee!"

That bastard has been our Senator since I was 21, I'm now 62. And though I moved away for some years, I've been back in KY since the mid 90s. So you can imagine how much I despise him. Worked on just about every campaign to beat him and alas, was never able to unseat him as his power here was mighty.

It was so weird watching commercials for the Rs who were running for the nomination during the primaries as they were dissing him to no end...something I never thought I'd hear. KY has suffered because he has used the state as his personal plantation for gaining power.

I'll tell you this, that bastard is so devious I have absolutely no doubt he is on life support or possibly dead and his office will not tell us because he would go that far to make sure a Dem does not take that seat even for a minute. His corruption is that deep. This is a weekend at Bernie's situation to be sure.

I hope Gov. Beshear (We just call him Andy because he's very beloved here) gets some answers and he's ready to take on the super R majority and all their shenanigans to keep him from filling that empty seat.

Andy is going to run for POTUS, he may be too nice of a guy to win, but I'll work on that campaign just as I did when he ran for Gov.

Stranger Than Friction's avatar

As long as Andy is willing to at least listen to Progressives and the voters when he is POTUS...

"Mitch McConnell’s office releases a new photo plus a statement saying he is undergoing “intense physical therapy” and not ready to get back to work in person. No timeline for his return to the Senate."

Are they kidding? My sources tell me that he's bench pressing 300 pounds and running 5 miles a day. He's ready...

Tetman Callis's avatar

Bench pressing 300 pounds and running 5 miles a day is pretty intense physical therapy, so that tracks. Word is he'll be on the card at the next White House MMA hootenanny.

Rosy red ASS's avatar

I don't think he will be back. He's just preventing Andy Beshear from appointing someone. At least he's not there voting against democracy.

M'Hael's avatar

"MEH-HEE-HO"

Every single one of those people behind that fuck should throw themselves into a woodchipper; it would INSTANTLY make the world a better place. Not by a lot, after all we've still got a MASSIVE infestation of these parasites, and we can't stop THEM the same way we do cyclospora... yet... but nonetheless, they should all seek the Light. Can't wait for them to find out that light is actually a glow... a warm, red, infinitely burning glow.

"Kentucky Gov. Andy Beshear would like him to show proof of life or resign."

Andy Beshear needs to fucking SACK UP and go to the fucking hospital PERSONALLY. I am so SICK of this bullshit, mamby-pamby, spineless fucking dithering. To once AGAIN quote Joel in the "Manos" episode:

"DO something!!"

GODS, I was hoping vacation would help reset my mental and emotional state, but coming back to a wrecked kitchen, an ant infestation, a work environment in disarray, the world somehow EVEN WORSE than when I checked out a week ago, and the lack of forethought to add a Recovery Day before going back to work has destroyed any lasting benefit I had on my vacation, other than all the quality time I got to spend with SWIMW.

Sorry, sorry. I should delete all that, but fuck it.

R. Riddle's avatar

Are we even clear where McConnell is at this point?

M'Hael's avatar

OKAY. It's become apparent that These Unprecedented Times have fully infected my brain and thought processes. I fucking HATE this. Nonetheless...

Is it likely or not that Beshear is doing backroom deals with MAGA traitors about this? It's absolutely STAGGERING to me that a Governor, a fucking GOVENOR, doesn't have the will and the power to FORCE the issue, to go TO the hospital, go TO the hospital room, escorted by State Troopers (if any exist that aren't also compromised by MAGA), and fucking FIND OUT THE TRUTH. I just fucking REFUSE TO BELIEVE IT.

Not that it's any consolation suspecting that. The choices here are: Behshear is a craven coward uninterested in upsetting people's fee-fees, OR he's compromised and doing deals behind everyone's backs over who gets Turtle's seat.

Reader's avatar

I think it's that without him and Lindsay, Republicans can't get much done. Why rock that boat?

VaselineHabits's avatar

I have an ant infestation too! Infuriating on top of everything else. I'm so sorry... and I'm also in the camp of burn it all down

TerseNurse's avatar

**always** factor in a recovery day before returning to work from vacation.

M'Hael's avatar

Noted for future refer-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Ohhhh, that's a good one. As if I'll ever get another vacation again in this fucking place. I crack myself up. 😉

But yeah, you're totally right. Neither SWIMW nor myself thought to do that, and we are BOTH paying for it. SUCH a rookie mistake, man. "Sheer. Fucking. Hubris." 😢

TerseNurse's avatar

my ex-wife always planned out vacations so as to maximize amount of time out of town: leaving immediately, and returning just in time to go back to work. At best it was exhausting, and frequently turned into a complete clusterfuck.

Rosy red ASS's avatar

We learned the hard way NOT to do that. Also not filling every single space of vacation doing and seeing everything. I got tired of coming home TIRED.

TerseNurse's avatar

I, um, still tend to fall into that trap. trying not to

VaselineHabits's avatar

Oh dear, part of my plan is ALWAYS have a recovery day. But honestly I would like at least 3 days to "recover" from a vacation well had.

M'Hael's avatar

RIGHT?? I keep forgetting that APPARENTLY three decades have passed since I was breaking into my 20's, and I cannot "FUCKING DO THISSSSS!" like I once could. 😉
