Oh wow. I know that father from long ago. Good for him spinning it into publicity for his wife's business, haha.

Then the lynching began.

Why is it that there are so many people who react to a line like this with anything other than tears or righteous anger or exhaustion?

How does one even begin to challenge that this was a lynching, or to defend it?

I can understand the idea of green skinned lawyers debating screenplays with an AI. I can't understand this.

In NYC both defense attorneys,

The public defender's office got a second lawyer? That's a big budget increase.

Nobody here at Wonkette is average. If you were average, you might not even know you were average, but you definitely aren't.

I agree with you 100%. I sometimes think about the Unabomber's brother, who knew his brother was the Unibomber after he read his Manifesto in the newspaper, but he refused to tell the police what he knew unless they promised not to give his brother the death penalty. He was very clever, and had a very clever lawyer, too, and they got their deal.

"Saving your skin" is typically an ad hoc thing following on to being caught in a dangerous situation, cast as a cowardly act. Whereas "concocting an exculpatory lie" is surely an action item on the sample incident plan in their binders from the Academy.

That's a terrific story. I read it at the source, which you could have put in your original post.

They're also abysmal at solving crimes, especially violent crimes, after the fact.

For the past 30 years Israel has been 'training' police and security forces (including privatized ones) in explicitly "anti-terrorist" tactics to scores of countries, including the more authoritarian, human rights-abusing prone as well as the US.

While its difficult to quantify the role of the IDF and Shin Bet in turning US LE practices into daily exercises of police state excesses, they are significant exacerbating influences.

Abolish the police. If you want to end classism, you have to, you know, get rid of the classes; and police are a separate societal class - the Kyshatria.

As I've said before: the purpose of the police is not to protect you, but to keep you in your place.
