Didn't his wife get the new Mercedes because she hit and killed someone with her previous car? Is she going to be tried for that as well? IIRC, it was a hit and run too.

why the hell havent the democrats kicked him out? I dont care about the vote margins. We look as bad as the R's

Expand full comment
BlueSpot's avatar

You need 2/3 of the Senate to kick him out. The Democrats held a vote to remove him, no Republican joined the Democrats in that vote. 51-49 isn't 2/3 of the Senate :(

Bob Sr's son is also in the Congress. Bob Jr represents NJ-08. AFAIK, Bob Jr isn't involved with his father's shady dealings (or any shady dealings of his own). still, Bob Jr has a real opponent in the upcoming Democratic primary election -- the mayor of Hoboken, Ravi Bhalla. i know Bhalla, he's a good guy and he has been a good mayor.

I’ve never had a watch that cost even three figures left of the decimal, though that may have less to do with making healthier life choices than being a New Jersey senator than the fact that I don’t really like to wear a watch.

I understand that the police can just seize large sums of money that you don't have a good explanation for. The expectation is always that they are either the proceeds of criminal activities or going to be used for it.

O/T but law-related: Any of the Wonk barrister squad listening to Fischer v. US @SCOTUS? It’s kinda scary, as righty judges are equating J6 ‘obstruction of official proceedings’ with all kinds of protestors, even with Bowman’s setting off fire alarm to obstruct a vote, implying that all such acts are essentially equivalent- meriting up to 20 yr. sentence. Any thoughts?

Back on topic - Menendez:Senate as Santos:House; IOW, a loathsome shitstain.

As long as they start with the J6 folks ... can't wait to hear the right-wing outrage that "their" justices would turn on them like that.

Humanitarian officials have warned that a system of coordination with Israel’s military, designed to protect their aid deliveries and lifesaving ambulance maneuvers, is broken. Israeli strikes on a World Central Kitchen convoy that killed seven aid workers in Gaza on April 1 and stirred global outrage came after failed deconfliction efforts.

There are 14 women who are hostages who were probably raped today. Even according to the UN.

Nice try Bob! The whole "my family never trusted banks because yada yada" can be a real thing, even today for many reasons. However, it doesn't explain the 480k in 10k packs of brand new 100s still in the bank wrapper. That's gangster cash Bob! Add in the gold bars they traced back to his buddy and Bob's in a helluva mess here. I see a conviction in Bob's future. Bob got greedy and sloppy. That will lead him right to the pokey.

Yeah, you really only need one example when you have a very poor understanding of stuff like math and science. Same people claim that there are millions of "illegals" coming across the border, and their proof of how dangerous they are is that every few months one of them commits a violent crime. We have multiple mass shootings in this country every week, but that's just a part of life as long as they're the right color.
