<i>[I]f immigration reform passes, “we will never again have a Republican president"</i>

To be fair, she's right.

Every Republican proposing voter ID laws?

Illegal immigrants -- if you'll excuse the expression -- don't vote. So why is immigration reform such a powerful force among Latinos? I think because Republicans express contempt for all Latinos through their immigration policies. "Self-deport", "English-only", "show me your papers". Those tell many of our fellow citizens they are unwelcome.

<i>ATTENTION REPUBLICANS: Do not read further. I am going to tell a Reagan joke that ends with "Ladies and gentlemen, the Aristocrats".</i>

Immigration reform is a good idea but the way for Republicans to win Latino votes is to respect people whose families have lived in North America for 25,000 years.

You don't court the electorate that you actually have, you court the electorate you wish you had.

And you do whatever you can to make the former look more like the latter.

It's not just Shelly, either. She joined up with Steve King and Louie Gohmert to form the <a href="http:\/\/www.rawstory.com\/rs\/2013\/06\/13\/reps-king-bachmann-and-gohmert-beg-glenn-becks-viewers-for-support-were-losing-badly\/" target="_blank">Cerberus of Stupidity</a> over in Glennbeckistan.
