I got as far as the part about whatβs happening in April possibly being rendered irrelevant by what is yet to follow between now and August, let alone now and November, and I thought back on my bingo cards of recent years, which have now been entered into the historical record, and Iβm just sitting with that.
Don't forget: a bruising, contentions, name-calling, and outrageous primary fights doesn't usually drain that party's enthusiasm. In fact, it cranks it up. Remember, that's why we got Thrump the first time.
To be pedantic, Congress has nothing to do with invoking the 25th Amendment. It is an action by the VP, supported by a majority of the Cabinet, to declare the President unable to execute his duties. Now if El Presidente Assmouth refuses to comply, then thereβs a whole back-and-forth with the VP and Congress to work it out. But Congress has no role in initiating it.
all this drama sounds completely manufactured to me - and no doubt goose'd by R's.
here's my thing: if you're in MI, go fucking vote for whoever the hell sounds great to you. and when we're over primary day, we will get - WE WILL NEED TO GET - the D over the finish line in November.
we can have disagreements without blowing shit up.
also: HOW THE FUCK DO I GET RID OF THE SKUNK IN MY CHICAGO BACKYARD?!?!?!
after some brief interwebs detective work i've been able to determine that Mr. Piker is not hiding a babyface under that beard as i initially suspected. he just looks like some guy.
Not a michigander, but I have spent many wonderful weeks with close friends on the shores of Lake Macatawa.
That by no means makes me an expert on mitten State politics. It does sound indeed complicated. But the discussion in general seems to be how non-evil can we be. Where for the last shit 40 years it's been in many places in this country. How can we pretend to be like Republicans in some way. That whole thing, in addition to being morally bankrupt, was electorally stupid too.
All that said, I guess I have to say this. It's no indication of the state senator's qualifications and certainly no augury of how she might do in the United States Senate, but I must report that her campaign makes a hell of a nice campaign t-shirt.
Wonderful graphics -- including a really sharp map of the state on the sleeve. Super- soft material. Union and American made, of course. And and still looking good after wearing it during probably 200 miles of rides on the greenway and however many wash cycles that is.
I thought I heard that McMorrow is, or had been, a graphic or industrial designer. Perhaps that accounts for the qualities of the shirt?
I like both McMorrow and Stevens. El-Sayed strikes me as basically another Bernie β somebody who delights in needling the other side by staking out positions that grab headlines and appeal to the leftiest of the lefty base, while McMorrow and Stevens both know how to talk to a wide range of people and actually, y'know, govern.
I'm a lot more worried about Mike Duggan's vanity campaign for governor siphoning enough votes from Jocelyn Benson that we end up with whatever bugfuck insane dipshit the Republicans nominate.
Iβm going with Al-Sayed. He hasnβt taken any AIPac $$, and isnβt pussy-footing around with healthcare, taxing the rich, being a true democratic leader. McMorrow (who will probably win), is more of the same, & took over $100,000 from AIPac.
You reminded me of the first joke I ever "created." Dad worked at Boeing, so space stuff was cool. We were in the back yard, and he explained to me that the steadily moving star was a satellite. I told him when I grew up, I was going to travel around the world, cause I was a Seattleite.
Ideally after folks get softened up in the primary, everyone will coalesce around the winner and remember to row in the same direction.
Keep a look out, folks, for any hot primary action in your area too. And remember there's the big prize for 2026...getting Congress to change hands so that there can be a *modicum* of a check on Maladministration 2.0!
So jump your voter suppression hoops NOW. Get your ID, whatever it takes to make sure you're an ACTIVE voter.
My Driver's License renews this summer. I am already gathering documents -- approaching Epstein Files volume -- to convince them I'm the same person I was last time. I will, indeed, mount up and "forge" ahead!
Given that Israel has created a million new refugees in Lenanon, I'd have thought the EU would be more concerned given their "problem" with "boat people."
this whole mishegah is demonstrating how clearly people don't do 'nuance' or 'context'

Iβll be a bit. You all just go on without me.
Don't forget: a bruising, contentions, name-calling, and outrageous primary fights doesn't usually drain that party's enthusiasm. In fact, it cranks it up. Remember, that's why we got Thrump the first time.
Yes, I wrote Thrump: I will never type his name.

And now you knowβ¦ding!
Thanks for the reality check. Everything I know about the Twenty-fifth amendment, I learned from the West Wing TV show.
Many's the night I've DREAMED about an administration like that.
Ta, Dok. Yes, any of the Democrats will do, but I too like McMorrow.

Is it a boy skunk? Or is it a girl skunk? Because that could factor inβ¦
Invite it into the house?*
*always helpful, me.
The "public option" is really just a sneaky way of putting the private insurers out of business, but I'm fine with that!
Integrity is in the water. Safe so far.

Any one of the three would be excellent but in a crutch I'd vote for Piker. Too bad we don't have rank choice voting
Would be difficult because he is not a candidate
Oups!!

"Michigander". You can goose me if that's correct!
Born Michigander here, prepare for goosing!
Born Seattleite. Good luck achieving orbit!

I recall driving by Boeing Field and staring at the SST Hangar. Sad.

And Don't Give up The Ship!
