A very nice young man stopped me in Penn Station yesterday and asked me to sign his petition to get Bloomberg on the NY ballot this time around.

I chose not to do so, and told him exactly what you said - that I thought that Steyer and Bloomberg should be using their energy and money to elect a Democratic Senate.

I did wish him luck with his petition, though.

Frederick Douglass is an example of somebody who's done an amazing job and is being recognized more and more by wealthy white men who want to be president.

He never considered the ramifications of his policies? That sounds like critically inept governance.

Sure, people evolve. What took him so long?

Eventually coming to the obviously correct ethical conclusion is a necessary, but not nearly sufficient, condition of my support. It’s the bare minimum required to join the conversation.

I dunno why, Trump's already got black unemployment at 4.000000000000000000000001929%

The worst thing about it is how Greenwood looks now. The only makers are plaques out front of high price lofts, brewpubs and the baseball field

He didn't run this speech past the Police Benevolent Association for comment first? Shame!

Unfortunately for Bloomburg we know what he does when he's actually in charge of something so we don't just have to rely on what he's saying now. And he did a lot of shitty things when he was mayor of New York. But, on the balance, since he's promised not to run as a 3rd party candidate and pledges up to a billion dollars of his own money to see Trump lose, regardless of who the Democratic nominee ends up being, he can stick around. Plus, I like to think he's siphoning votes off Biden, which gives my top choice a better chance.

my main problem with Bloomberg is that I can't get myself to trust him.

Wow. Even if it’s just talk, it’s talk that’s not pandering to racists and is guaranteed to alienate some of his fellow billionaires. And I may be wrong, but this is the first I’ve heard of anyone white and male at that level of power discussing concrete plans for reparations and why they’re necessary for us as a nation. He still doesn’t have my trust, but he’s gotten my attention.

I kinda like that idea. Have a family like mine sit down and converse with a family that has not benefitted from generations of racist policies. It would be a valuable learning experience. I just don't know how something like that would be mediated to not seem condescending.

I was told there'd be no measures of central tendency.

I guess it’s not, actually. I misspoke. I was thinking of this one organization (that Mrs Fussbudget worked for) that focuses on restorative justice in juvenile crime specifically, but there are other organizations that do adult restorative justice also too.
