He will now return to carrying water for his unhinged party and its unhinged leader. He deserves very little “credit” for this, since “doing the right thing” should have been obvious months ago, when reports were bleak in Ukraine. Naturally we all wish billions of war aid wasn’t necessary. But there is a madman annexing land to give Russia motherland “room to breath” or whatever it was Hitler said about expanding Germany. This is what happens when power over an entire nation is placed in the hands of one tyrant. The results are bad. Putin is behaving frighteningly like Hitler, and should be treated as such and eventually captured and tried before an international tribunal. So yes, Mike finally did the necessary thing.

Too busy finding his way to the bathroom from his new office?

I've worked in government. People in Johnson's position have private bathrooms off their offices.

They do not shit and piss with the masses.

Master Sergeants are very busy this week having their troops pack weaponry for shipment.

My prediction is that quite a lot of our stocks will be “condemned” and sent to Ukraine for disposal.

40 year old nato rounds will fire just fine from M4 and M16s. The same is true for 154mm rounds.

These are legal ways to expand our assistance.

And every defense contractor will get a fat check from the government to replenish our stocks, and they'll take some of that money and make donations to all their Republican friends.

In high school, we had a principal, Mr. Hornuckle, who looked just like Mike Johnson.

That would be amusing if I wasn't known as "Little Hornuckle" my freshman year because I resembled the principal.

Did I read it or dream it that the Ukraine money is a loan and not gifted?

Expand full comment
JCfromNC's avatar

The Nodfarter wanted it to be a loan if it had to be done at all, so his loyal minions in Congress insisted it be a loan. But as others pointed out, it's a forgivable loan so as long as OHJB's in office it'll most likely get forgiven rather than repaid.

$10bn of the Ukraine funding was in the form of a repayable loan to appease some Republicans. Biden can forgive 50% in November and, I think, the rest the day after that and he will! LOL

I’m willing to bet Johnson won’t trash the Dems the way McCarthy did because he can use his Christianity as a cover. It was the moral thing to do, etc. McCarthy’s only religion is ambition and he’s even bad at that.

It's either that we're going to find that the repubs slid in some sleazy shit into the bill (putting in a work requirement for school lunch recipients, cutting federal funds for cancer research, etc.) but if they didn't, the blame for this delay has to go to Heavenly Father.

The "Religious Right" continues to baffle me. Belief in a Supreme Being can only be considered a matter of individual preference. I have yet to see any empirical evidence to support either position However, if you choose to be a believer,. how can you possibly believe that this , Omnipotent, Omnipresent Being, capable of existing in all time and space simultaneously, capable of creating infinite universes simply by imagining their existence, is deeply involved in the intimate details of your personal life. It is an act of such colossal arrogance that it could rightly be labeled insanity.

Gravitational effects are fundamentally caused by the warping of spacetime and the motion of objects through the warped spacetime. The larger the mass of an object the larger the warping effect, Light also seems to be subject to the warping effect. Mass and energy are sort of the same thing , the presentation being subject to the speed of light, E=mc2 Your 2 cents pretty much sums it up, So is gravity the action of God, is it God, is it neither, or a little of both?

edit:

this is very informative

https://www.nytimes.com/interactive/2024/04/20/us/politics/ukraine-israel-foreign-aid-vote.html

I get it now...SO:

several dems voted "NO" to aid to Israel (which I get and support) but YES to the rule overall...MOST of the few dems who voted 'NO' to Israel ALSO voted 'NO' to the rule...So every dem who voted NO to the rule ALSO voted no to aid to Israel but YES to aid to Taiwan and Ukraine (which is moot if they vote NO to the rule

I actually understand that move. That's a hard fucking call
