I eat Panda Express food from time to time, and enjoy it. But I, like pretty much everyone here I imagine, would be fucking embarrassed to pass it off as actual Chinese cuisine, let alone take a Chinese head of state there.

Dumbest timeline, ftw

i'd be tempted to organize religions and denominations/sects by the date of their founding on any list. i don't think a lot of the newer ones would like that much.

>>I won’t be a bit surprised if he decides at one point to say, ‘President Xi, let’s go visit Panda Express and see what you think of their broccoli beef.’ <<

I think we already know what he would think of it. He would say it is xite.

Maybe they cave follow that up with a visit to Dunkin Donuts hosted by JD Vance

Yes, to provide an example of the finest in American pastry baking. And by "finest American" we of course mean, best shareholder value.

His food taster would probably die, so Xi wouldn't actually eat any of it.

Ta, Evan. It is mere *weeks* until the most important midterm of our lives. Have you checked and rechecked your voter registration? Do you know where your polling place is and have a plan to get there? If you're in an all voting by mail state, do you know the location of every dropbox? Each of us has only one vote. Each of us also has a social circle, no matter how big or small. It's up to us to recruit Independents/undecideds to vote a straight Democratic ticket, from the top to the bottom of the ballot. Vote as if your life depends on it. It does. When we vote, we WIN!!

Wikipedia: "The Group of Two (G-2 or G2) is a hypothetical and an informal grouping made up of the United States and the People's Republic of China. U.S. President Donald Trump has become a vocal proponent of the G-2 concept during his current second term.

There have been increasingly strong suggestions by American liberal politicians in creating a G-2 relationship to work out solutions to global problems, and prevent another cold war. However, as strategic competition between the two powers has intensified, some have also rejected the concept. As of 2026, these two countries collectively comprise about 42% of the global economy by GDP (nominal) and 34% by GDP at purchasing power parity."

Politico: "Trump basically spelled out as much in a summit with Chinese leader Xi Jinping in Beijing last month, declaring the tête-à-tête “the G2.” “This is the G2,” the president told reporters, referring to a knock off of the Group of 7 summit of the world’s largest economies and democracies. “They have G7, they have the G8, this is the G2.”

Trump in China, May 2026: 'Donald Trump remarked on the popularity of Chinese takeaway restaurants in the U.S. during a Beijing state dinner hosted by Chinese President Xi Jinping on May 14. "Just as many Chinese now love basketball and blue jeans, Chinese restaurants in America today outnumber the five largest fast food chains in the United States, all combined." The president added, "That's a pretty big statement."'

American RWNJ "scholars" dropping bits of Latin into their writing was annoying enough.

But now I can hardly wait for them to start trying their hand at quotations in Geek....sorry....Greek.

C'mon patriotic MAGA! Time to show that Chinese showoff and his Thucydides that MAGA scholarship is best scholarship! Help Dear Leader out here! Set him up with some Herodotusian something or something other.

Many years ago I was serving a table at a high-end restaurant where a gentleman was dining with his wife and another couple. When I asked if they wanted to order anything from the very nice wine list, he - eager to impress his friends - excitedly said “Let me order! Let me order the wine!” As everyone deferred and waited to see what he would choose, he turned to me and said, “Do you have Blue Nun?”

So for 45 years I’ve employed that expression whenever I saw someone misperceive a status marker. “How do you like the Mongolian Beef?” is probably better though, because it’s Mike Lee and I won’t have to explain the joke.

More like the 'Mongolian's Beef' ?

After you read this you're all invited to view my new deck at the back entrance. It'll be so great to make a pizza there or sit in the morning with coffee, making a comment. Sure, it's just a bunch of post holes with a stack of sacrete nearby under a tarp, but it's worth a look.

Might as well go for the full display of ignorance and offer Xi crab rangoons as traditional Chinese cuisine.
