Here's a rare thing: The Archdiocese of St. Paul and Minneapolis is facing criminal charges for mishandling a priest who mishandled children. The prosecutor says church officials "turned a blind eye" to the priest's sexual abuse of two boys. The priest, Curtis Wehmeyer, is serving five years in prison; he also faces additional charges in Wisconsin. Friday, Ramsey County Attorney John Choi filed six "gross misdemeanor" counts against the archdiocese as a corporation; no individuals have yet been charged.

My friend's opinion is that her willfully brainless piety is an attempt to atone for her great "sin" of falling in love and leaving her order...and she works extra hard at it to expiate the guilt for her husband, too...you know - because that's HER fault.
If that pesky Jennifer woulda known her place and kept her mouth shut like a good christian woman then we wouldn't be exposed to all this unpleasantness. To hell with her!
rape is always about power . . . the only ones that will tell you it's about sex are the rapist and their apologists.
i don't think much of Martha Coakley but i'd encourage her to get someone in the State Department to set her up with a meeting with new pope to see about extradition . . . and see if he'll put up or just shut up.
[ . . . and bring along a couple of State Troopers . . . who knows, she just might get lucky ]
Also (too) I though that Pope "lighten up" Frances has been told by that Santorum (R-in your bedroom) fellar to keep his yap shut as he (Santorum) is the ultimate harbinger where Catholic policy is concerned. So don't hold your breath for him to say anything the laity will follow.
"Christians" (i.e., fundies and evangelicals) only make common cause with the Catholic Church when its convenient and this doesn't seem very convenient. For the most part, I think the Church remains the whore of babylon in their eyes, especially with the refreshing Pope Frank running the show. I doubt that the Pope will change the outdated doctrine, but he does seem poised to get rid of the obvious crooks and high livers.
The Corleone Family isn't going to like Choi fucking with their family business the Church.
And they don't even have a TV show yet?

So what color is the sky in her world?
FOX will have no trouble completely ignoring this story.
Or a priest to defend the Duggars - a Duggar to defend the Church? It's the Circle of Life (of pedophiles)!
Whatever her parish priest says it is, sadly.

No wonder my friend's an atheist.

Uh oh! We are bullies for talking about it. :)Let's just pray and move on...

hope you're not holding your breath.

Coakley definitely has her flaws, but going after the church in a Catholic town when this was unheard of took chutzpah.

While true, this is the version I live by:'All vodka corrupts, but Absolut vodka corrupts absolutely.'
Ecrasez l'infame! Still good advice
