That's the kind of stuff that got assholes like Reagan into office in California -- to destroy!

I hope somebody is defecating on that villain's grave right now. His Alzheimer's doesn't buy him a pass; evil is still evil.

Ta, Dok. I love everything about this. And my wild rice usually comes from Minnesota also, too.

Dina's avatar

Every time I went back home to MN, I always brought back bags of native Minnesota wild rice! Customs was always interested, of course...but it IS legal to transport transcontinentally, thank goodness. We have friends from there who come to England every year and fulfill a wish-list every time, maybe this year I'll request some wild rice (because now I have a hankerin' for Wild Rice Hotdish!!).

I dunno. Sounds like communism, or maybe socialism, or some sort of ism anyway and is probably going to undermine the entire American Way of Life (tm).

tax revenue is going up, more education more income, more tax revenue w/ out increasing tax rates … it’s a virtuous circle ⭕️ …

Very good stuff. I was glad when New York State did this too.

Investing in people is a sure bet on high returns. Too bad not enough people in high places don’t understand this.

In the good old days many states did that

Minnesota is unique.

There are not many places you could get this headline:

"Man uses moose antler to kill suspected sex offender"

Re-Engineer's avatar

I keep a moose antler in my nightstand for protection. My state has access laws that are friendly to antler enthusiasts.

I had to get a tactical antler nightstand though, because you can't hide an antler just anywhere.

Canada and Alaska on lines two and three...

Those Minnesotans are so practical… they make me nervous.

Dina's avatar

It's kinda like how Minnesotans have always given Canada the side-eye...too clean and shiny and perfect, they made us nervous. (We have Wisconsin the stink-eye, for obvious reasons.)

True fact: Minnesota once had a Socialist governor. And liked him!...

Are we straying into OT, yet? I have a question for Wonketeers. Appears our little Dem county group here in Cheboygan,MI (a MAGA dominated rural county) is gonna put out two billboards this fall. One faction of the group wants the billboards to say "Fuck Fascists - Vote Democrats", and the other faction is leaning more towards "Yes, there are Democrats in Cheboygan - here's our Facebook!" So.... we're looking for slogans in between these two vectors. Ideas?...

Pexas Teat's avatar

How about "Trump is a rapist and a failed businessman"

Seems like reminding everyone of those facts could be useful.

oscarphile's avatar

Suggestion? Maybe your slogan should be "ABSTAIN from fucking fascists." The Lysistrata strategy~~

Not sure what your group is working with for photo / image budget, but I'm imagining a vertical split of two wide background images.

Top, a photo of riot police and/or January 6 insurrectionists,. Bottom, a composite of various well-recognized civic projects and buildings in your area; photos of people planting a garden together; etc.

Legend: OVERPOWER? Or EMPOWER? The choice is yours. Vote Democrats in 2024!

Toomush Expectashuns's avatar

Noice! I think, yes, we're doing phot/image thing. Apparently, a few local folks have stepped up to do this specific thing...

This is awesome. I hope lots of people take advantage. I'm old enough to remember paying $205 for my first quarter tuition at U of M. What a bargain.

Dina's avatar

My son got an architecture degree an the U of M for the low, low price of only $60,000 (he graduated in 2011).

weejee's avatar

I remember $85 a semester at Illinois. But then I'm a fossil.

kbblaldwin's avatar

Back in the Paleozoic era my community college fees were exactly $0. State was a bit more pricey but still easily affordable.

• Our extreme left: Free higher education - the checkbooks are ready.

• Our extreme right: Overthrow the government and set up camps - the militias are ready.

So hard to decide which way to lean...

Goin Green's avatar

And still they win. I still think it’s because people are fucking idiots… generally speaking, of course.

Sherry's avatar

Another concrete reason on just why free higher education is invaluable.
