"Among adults, 363 Minnesotans die and 47 are wounded on average every year."

Based on context I assume that is from guns, because on a population of 5.7 million 363 isn't a lot of deaths. Googling... OK the yearly death rate from all causes tends to be around 50 000, that makes more sense.

It's always nice to be reminded that Republicans are morons everywhere. Even in my own state.

JFC, tell me you know jack shit about farming without telling me you know jack shit about farming.

Cows may indeed get aggressive defending their calf. The first line of defence is being cautious and paying attention to the cow's body language, not SHOOTING the fucking thing. That's a very good way to go broke very quickly.

Plus, it's not easy to drop a cow with a single shot, especially from a distance. A body shot won't do it. But head shots are EXTREMELY tricky. They have thick skulls and small brains. Unless you have a high powered rifle and pinpoint accuracy, it's going to bounce off her skull and do nothing but further piss her off.

My Dad is a second generation dairy farmer, and I grew up on a dairy farm. All us kids knew better than to approach a mother and new calf without Dad's explicit say so, because he'd taught us not to do that. It's called fucking parenting. And he knew how to approach without needing to SHOOT THE FUCKING COW, because he knew what he was doing.

I read him this wanker's exact words, and his expression of astonishment and contempt was quite something to see. Minnesota farmers should be embarrassed to be associated with that fool.

A proper Mozambique drill is one to the solar plexus, one to the heart or descending aorta and one to the head. This takes advantage of barrel rise when executed in rapid sequence. You only have to aim once. Belly shots are useless. Takes days to die from one.

The 2018 cow story from Poland is cute, with a nice picture of a nice president at the end.

My experience, growing up, was with horses, not cows. Horses are large animals that can easily kill someone but spooked or abused but otherwise are very docile. Horses, like stray dogs, need to be approached in a calm and friendly manner. I imagine the same is true for cows. Bulls, on the other hand are testosterone fuel beasts much like the adult MAGA and needs to be handled carefully.

"Guns secured with a locking device must be unloaded, while those kept in a secure container could loaded or unloaded. It’s a pretty common-sense safe-storage bill of the sort that the NRA has opposed for decades now."

Are we talking about the same NRA that has a list of gun safety rules (https://gunsafetyrules.nra.org/) that include ones like "Store guns so they are not accessible to unauthorized persons" and (under fundamental rules) "ALWAYS Keep The Gun Unloaded Until Ready To Use"?

Why on earth would they be opposed to legislating their own rules?

As someone who grew up on a dairy farm, I would like to put forth the speculation that Limmer has never been on a farm in his entire fucking life.

Pretty sure it would be more effective to swoop in and grab your child away from said enraged bovine. Shooting a cow seems more likely to piss them off than otherwise.

I have a locking pistol box I bought 30 years ago. It has a push-button combination lock and I can open it in less than 2 seconds. (Not that I've ever timed myself, that's just how long it take to push three buttons in the proper sequence.) If that extra 2 seconds costs me my life, what chance did I ever have?
