Some moderates are cause for concern, but I'm thinking more in the progressive wing. There are some solidly racist fuckers in that batch, some serious misogynists too. But they think they're the most liberal of sorts because they believe in wealth redistribution, and indeed they feel that wealth redistribution is the only thing that matters.
Wasn't just a Harvard thing. Northwestern did one, too as far back as the '70s. It was basically everyone's senior pic, hometown and high school/prep school.
this is what I've told people about the South. Racism is casual. people say racist shit in regular conversation all the time. it's so normalized that people don't even think about it or notice it.
Especially as it is a written comment. Just opening your mouth and words pouring out is easier to misspeak. Having to think of the words and type them down takes longer (for most people, professional typists not included) and therefore should allow for a better chance to choose words more effectively. So, I, too, have a lot of trouble benefiting her with enough doubt regarding her intent...
I CANNOT WAIT to watch 'Hamilton' with my family. I saw it on Broadway with friends, and have wanted to share that experience with my kids and husband, but just couldn't quite make it work (travel, school, work, expense, etc) We are going to have a 'Hamilton' night. All cuddled together on the couch in front of "The Big TV" with the good sound system. It's all I can do to wait and not just start watching it right now! 😆

(though I have to admit after tuning into some of those assonances and cadences that it made me feel better that it took even that genius 7 years to write)
There is a good documentary about the Weedpatch Okie migrant camp near Bakersfield, done some years ago and featuring people who came with the dust and grew up in the camp. Done by Huell Howser and likely setting for part of Grapes of Wrathhttps://blogs.chapman.edu/h...
My guess is that typo happened because her phone's speech-to-text software wasn't set to "redneck".

Sunnyvale is not and has never been San Francisco. It is a siding on the SF&SJ railroad that was built for Libby's.

Fucking western culture is more to the point.
Weird, I don't remember that episode at all.
