It makes their life easier since they don't have to really understand anything, they simply respond like Pavlov's dogs in a drooling rage at the word liberal. It also makes a decision on who to trust easier. It's always the Republican, as noted by the 50% or more of Republican voters who still believe Trump won the election because 50 million illegals voted for Biden. You say that's impossible, there are not 50 million undocumented immigrants in the US of voting age, and the ones here are not stupid enough to do something that will get them caught, put in prison, and then deported. There are if Trump says so, he doesn't lie! Besides, Biden already issued 50 million secret pardons for every one of them!
It continues even on programs they need to survive. I will never forget a Washington Post article a few months after Trump took office and Republicans were trying to abolish the Affordable Care Act, including Medicaid expansion. A Trump voter in West Virginia in her mid 50s with a spotty work history and some significant health issues was saying how important Medicaid and food stamps were. When asked, she said she would probably be dead in a few months without that help. When asked if Trump succeeded in canceling her Medicaid would she still support him, she said she would. She would give him ten more chances to fuck her over before she would stop supporting him.
That's when I realized that Trumpism is a cult, along with Republicanism. We saw the same thing with Covid, idiots refusing to wear masks or get a vaccine because Democrats said they needed to. And then the MAGA crowd dying at twice the rate of blue districts. They are literally willing to die to own the libs. You can add numerous other examples, from banning abortions and therefore endangering the lives of women to refusing to consider any gun control laws to still trying to screw up Social Security, food stamps, and federal health programs.
I could cite dozens more that are impacting their health and lives that they willingly support. It's a dangerous cult because they hold power in numerous states, in Congress, and the Supreme Court and are rigging the system to perpetuate a minority government based on radical pseudo christian right wing ideology that affects our lives too.
If only Trumpcultists were dying from Trump policies, I'd shrug it off; suicidal fascists perishing of stupidity are not high on my list of things to fret over. But if nobody in MS is benefiting from Medicaid expansion...
