You broke it, you bought it In the sort of story we wish would happen more often, Missouri Governor Jay Nixon has been ordered to represent a criminal defendant at trial, because the head of the office that provides public defenders has had it with his agency being chronically underfunded. Michael Barrett, the director of the Missouri State Public Defender’s office, sent Nixon what has to be among the top 10
That's a pretty awesome move, actually. Slap the dick making the decisions but not anybody else. Draw national attention to the problem by attracting our ever bored and looking for a new thing to report media.
Missouri used to be a state run by reasonably intelligent folks. I know. I'm a Missourian...from Ferguson in fact. Now it's in a race to the bottom-feeding conservative dung-heap. Once the state of Harry Truman, now it's the state of John Ashcroft. Oh and Nixon is a freakin' Democrat. But the only way he could get elected and re-elected was to prove he'd removed more than 50% of his brain. I believe he actually made a campaign ad showing he could drool on command and slide his knuckles across the ground.
Sadly it's a case of society regressing back to an even earlier time. MO has no shortage of history to qualify its conservative bona fides. I point to the bit of nastiness with Kansas a while back as an example.
If When he refuses to take the case, can't the state Bar Association take disciplinary action against him? Also: 'bout damn time someone recalled the responsibilities part of "rights and responsibilities."
-- Defendant filed a bar complaint against his PD because she scolded him for showing up at her house at 10PM to discuss his case.-- Defendant threatened to file a complaint against me because I refused to subpoena every member of the Colville Tribe with a valid drivers license.-- Defendant demanded the removal of her PD because he refused to reimburse her for "travel expenses" and lost wages.

Oh boy...just wait until Breitbart finds out liberals have clairvoyant powers. I can't wait to be labeled a witch (worlock?).

I'm imagining...
"I told you to pick out all of the blue ones! Now my M&Ms are ruined. I want another attorney"
