This is sure to end well. Remember when 12 year old Tamir Rice was shot and killed by police because they thought he was threatening people with a toy gun? As Clint would say, from his cold dead hands.

But then, I guess we just have to accept that excess deaths are the necessary price we have to pay as a society for exercising our God-given 2A rights.

This is one reason why Jefferson was right when he suggested frequent constitutional updates. We are a giant and dynamic nation pitifully bound by the antiquated notions of men we fetishize as "The Founding Fathers." Some of their ideas were as close to timeless as you can get, but others no longer make any sense at all. We are in this position because, while we no longer have any need for "a well-regulated militia," that language is still there staring at us from our Constitution, and in order to make it effectual rather than utterly useless, the Supreme Court has transformed it into a sacred individual right to keep and bear arms.

Where did you see me suggest cops kill people at their discretion?!

I said they should take away the guns of children carrying them in public spaces, or eject them from those spaces, at their discretion, rather than abiding by this law in total, that tells them all kids can carry guns in public for no reason at all.

Though some would have you believe the Founding Fathers' intention was to give every man, woman and child the "Constitutional right" to carry around loaded firearms, the specificity of "a well-regulated militia" defined who could be given the right. The antiquated Citizen Military has since been replaced by the U.S Military Complex.

You mean like D.A.R.E. classes where cops would come in and question kids about their parents' drug use?

Back in the 80's, a friend was the No. 2 at a tony suburb's rec and parks. The director left and, rather than promote the woman who knew the community inside and out, they brought in an outside guy.

The first thing he did was dig up all the soccer fields and replace them with baseball diamonds. The place went berserk. He quickly shuffled along on his career path, and they finally gave her the job.
