I read somewhere that the Coca-Cola logo was the most recognized logo around the world. Nomadic tribes know Coca-Cola. Indigenous people in the Amazonian jungle know Coca-Cola. Mitchy-poo needs to get out more and see what the real world is like.
True story: I study Smokey Bear, and the US Forest Service insisted on reviewing a paper that I'd written under the claim that I was violating their copyright. Apparently they don't believe in fair use.
They wanted to have a say over what I wrote about Smokey Bear, and worse yet wanted me to pay some dumb contractor to review the paper. Oh, and the Ad Council would get a say also.
Nope! I stopped replying to their emails and sent the manuscript to the journal for peer review. The US Forest Service made a few threats that they might pursue a copyright claim but they were only trying to scare us and never followed through. I sort of wish they had, because we'd have won that 1st Amendment case, but I didn't need that hassle at the end of my dissertation process.
Once they notice that their net profits are higher even after having their tax rates raised by to 28% because of raising the minimum wage to $15/hr and other pro-people stances like getting our roads, bridges, ports, and power grid up to 21st Century standards, all but the most doctrinaire RWNJs (those involved in extraction activities, as well as the Murdoch klan) are going to be following the old Republican orthodoxy.
But this one is good - meaning, I like that this is happening - because I am really tired of the thinking part of the country having to be afraid of what HE might do.
he's really not that much of a rarity in the TX House--it's just that the idiots are super loud. Phelan is not unlike Straus. Geren, Hunter, Morrison, Huberty, Ken King, etc. there's a ton of the good ones in the House. and the Senators aren't so bad outside of Patrick's influence.
wow, a quick look at how Copyright Law covers US Government work is maddening. They would've had a high bar to clear and like you said, 1st Amendment/Fair Use would've been on your side (in my completely semi-professional opinion).
If Mitch ain't heading for an early exit, he's definitely got some nerve telling his donors that there money is green enough for him, but their opinions aren't. I thought Corporations are people? These are the kinds of things that annoy me where mass media don't dissect this shit and paint the GOP into a corner.

Yeah, much closer. I'd go Zuck for the same reason, more widely destructive.
Have Republicans forgotten they are in the minority? Talk about your empty threats.

So far I'm seeing no downside to Mitch threatening corporations. For us.
"Why do they laugh at my mighty sword?"

Straus is a rarity in Texas politics; the only Republican I not only do not loathe, but actually respect...
Nothing is too low for this man.

What, you prefer Lumberg?

Thank you!
