the Senate Republicans would have only had a witch trial ending in drowning if the United States elected the president through direct popular vote in 2016
Christ, I hope you're right. But we've all known for a long time that the Republican party is a bunch of ethically bankrupt power-hungry swine whose hottest fantasies and yearnings involve jackboots and the Confederacy rising again.McConnell clearly doesn't believe in hell, or else believes in it but thinks it's only for the young and the honest, because God is a fascist.
Your recommendation not withstanding, the time to have been paying attention was 20 years ago. Sophisticated gerrymandering makes voter turnout far less meaningful than it used to be; owning the voting machines might be a more effective strategy, but they were already bought and paid for about 10 years ago.
Still not convinced? Take a look at who won the popular vote in 2000 and 2016.
Old Man Shadow might be depressing, but he's not wrong.
I doubt the audience here on Wonkett is going to *not vote* because of Old Man Shadow's observation.
As far as the general public, anyone pathetic enough to allow a single internet comment to dissuade them from voting....prolly didn't 'plan on voting in the first place.
Sure, okay, let's police everything we say on the unlikely chance that someone currently in recovery will read a sarcastic comment born of despair and existential horror and decide, "You know what? I was going to stay sober, but the internet comment has convinced me to flush my recovery down the toilet."
I agree with the delay tactic. Vote on the Articles as quickly as is prudent. Then Nancy can call Sen. Schumer and say "Chuck, let me know when everything is ready on your end..... Then I'll send the Articles on over."
It’s not like he can’t be spanked with a Thurnberg cover.

Perhaps, "thoughtfully, or not at all"?
Gerrymandering has no affect on presidential outcomes.
The Electoral College on the other hand...
I wonder why we think this is an appropriate thing to say in a forum where many people are proud of how long they've stayed clean and sober.

I didn't realize I had that much power.
"Sure, okay, let's police everything we say"
If by that you mean "let's think about others and not be assholes", then sure.
Jesus Christ, I'm not buying shots for the AA meeting.
It's not a single comment. It's becoming a pervasive thing. It's all over. All hope is lost. The Republic is done. We had a good run. And so on.
That takes its toll over time.
This story makes me want to stock up in steel toed boots and instruments of [REDACTION].
Maybe Mitch is tired of this shit and just wants to go out on a high note, never mind his former party's standing.

he should talk to Matt Gaetz about getting high......
