Also too, keep in mind he has a black grandson. It’s not lost on him that his grandchild, in another ten or twenty years can end up just like so many other black men and boys after an encounter with a trigger happy cop.

Because they are sincere, to him it is.

Utah elected representatives suck so much. You do not feel represented here if you’re liberal, even by Democrats for the most part. I am just happy when a rep from here does something that’s not abjectly awful. I mean, he has nothing to lose so it’s not some kind of brave stance, but it’s not disgusting, so I’ll take it.

To be fair, Romney's rep really had no where to go but up and the bar his Party has set isn't low, it's non-existent.

But fudge, he is marching and he is condemning things and that has nothing to do with car elevation or vulture styled investing, so good on him.I hope the rest of his head exits his ass soon.

I applaud Romney taking even this small step, as I did his decision to denounce the Great Orange Criminal and vote for his removal from office (on one of the two counts). Still, to keep this in perspective, Romney is so popular in Utah that he doesn't have to worry about a primary from his right, no matter how knuckle-dragging his opponent might be -- to paraphrase a common meme, he could shoot someone . . . I dunno, on the square in front of the Salt Lake Tabernacle and still not lose a single vote.

When the ex- was a Mormon she says they semi-officially considered blacks as second class citizens...told her she couldn’t marry her black boyfriend in the church, because reasons. If that’s the case, Mittens might want to look a bit closer to home...

CAVEAT: The ex- is a psycho, so one should take anything she says with a grain or 12 of salt. But it’s early and I haven’t had enough coffee to care to google it myself. Nor do I really give a shit about any cult’s beliefs.

Until 1978 black people could not hold leadership positions or be priests in the LDS church, so she's probably accurate on that one. Even though a new "revelation" was conveniently discovered, I'm sure the old bastards at the top were still happy to unofficially exclude black people, even while sending missionaries to Africa.

Come on Murkowski. You got a lot of Democrats to vote for you when you won a write-in campaign after losing the Republican primary. Step up. Don't try to be the next Susan Collins.

Good for Mitt. This is the only time I've ever written these words.

Fascinating, because it happened to me also. I never seem to remember her until she does something unpleasant, which has been too often.

I hear you. I just about cheered when Romney voted to convict Boss Tweet.

We still have that execrable slug Mike Lee, who looks like could have been the model for Pat Bagley's cartoon legislators.

Romney is as close as we've got to a conservative with both national exposure and a conscience. Let's encourage him.Compare and contrast to, say, Lisa Murkowski. Does she have a conscience, or just...qualms?And canned qualms, at that.
