there's a lot of unknowns here. I'm gonna wait on making any snarky non-allowed comments.

Ta, Robyn. Until the end of May, I worked in a South Bronx FQHC (federally qualified health center) and it was quite the task to convince my clients, all HIV positive adults, to get vaccinated for flu and COVID-19. What convinced them was Kizzmekiah Corbett's story. She's an inspiration. If I had not been so effective in convincing them to get vaxxed, I would have had at least a handful more of dead clients. Get your shots, people.

So many unknowns. In cases like these, postpartum depression can't be ruled out. It's understudied and undertreated. I'm not saying that's what happened (I have no information other than what was presented above), but it should be looked into. This is just a tragedy, and it breaks my heart.

I've been a pediatric intensive care physician for > 45 years. I'm also trained in pediatric infectious diseases. "Vaccine injury" is not a thing. It's made up. It also makes no biological sense except for the rare instances in which an immunocompromised person inadvertently receives a live vaccine. We've been fighting these idiots since Jenner devised his smallpox vaccine in the late 1700s.

These people used to sit *the Hell DOWN* and *listen to their betters*. :(

It's a marker of how truly broken the world is these days that my first thought was that this was planned from BEFORE she took those kids in for their shots. Crafting a story to cash in on the right wing grift a la Rittenhouse or Gaines.

I hope to hell to be wrong about that.

Instant flashback, I once went through real data on SIDS, and by far the most common denominator was that the child was in bed with the parent.

ChrisJohnson's avatar

Co-sleeping is a well known risk. We've known this for many decades.

I thought of adding, when I posted what I found, I received a reply from a woman who talked about precautions for collecting. I still thought it wasn't worth the risk. And one more rant, the story of the "wisdom of Solomon" describes the same circumstances.

My cousin (who is like 40) has had 2 grandkids die from SIDS. From the same mother.

The mother hit ALL of the risk factors: Kid had before age of 18, smoker, sleeps with the kid in the bed, drugs, male child (which ups the risk for some reason), and maybe more.

I just....The first one was bad enough but the 2nd? Feckless, feckless fucking swine, IMO.

There is an enormous amount of research about the causes of SIDS. The most interesting stuff to me has been the assessment of carbon dioxide response in the brain stem. The normal response, which is to increase minute ventilation (tidal volume of the breath x respiratory rate) when CO2 rises, takes time to mature. Mother Nature is weird in this regard.

So it might not have been her fault at all? :( In that case, I feel sorry for her. I chalked it up to the above.

Cannot say for sure. But pediatricians include sleep practices as part of well child care, so if she had that care she would have been warned. One key thing we've learned over the past years is that the brain of a newborn is quite plastic and pruning/shaping of neurons (particularly frontal lobe neurons) continues for many years after birth.

Did they check for "petechial hemorrhage"? That's what Dr. Bullard in Midsomer always does.

I am not excusing her if she did kill them but before we condemn we need know more. Yannow, like did she actually do it. Being charged with a crime is no guarantee of guilt.

That said something has gone seriously sideways in the lives of Moms who kill their children. For all the Moms & children out there we need to know exactly how this came to pass so we can try tp prevent more of this.

Yeah, exactly this.

Not only does this hoochie deserve to be found guilty, she should also be sued up the wahzoo by the AAP and any other group that has been defamed by the lies and slanders of these MAGA/MAHA assholes.

EyeQueue's avatar

BWAHAHAHAHAHAHA! I haven't heard "hoochie" in like 25 years.

Laurian's avatar

Sue to what end? She is not rich, what could AAP hope to recover?

Miss Grundy's avatar

Admit her lies to cover up the murder of her children.

An impossible to pay paper judgment that they can file & ruin her credit for the rest of her life. No car, no mortgage, no bank account. Can't cause any damage if she's financially hamstrung.

EyeQueue's avatar

Slander at this point. The money doesn't matter. Make her an example for defaming the AAP and for dragging medical science through the mud.

How many more kids will die because this sow is going around claiming vaccines kill babies?

That's why, IMO, the sow should be sued.

ETA: Actually, sow libelz. BARNYARD ANIMALS CARE MORE FOR THEIR OFFSPRING THAN DROOLING, MORONIC, VILLAINOUS MAGA CHUDS!
