An interesting piece over at Politico, on one former president:
Bush’s presidency ended in tears, but his years as an ex-president have been an underappreciated object lesson. It’s an example for fellow chief executives and plenty of other big shots (and, for that matter, medium shots and small shots) in a capital where no one ever seems to stop tending to their brand: You really can just go away.
Maybe Bush’s absence was hastened because he was politically toxic and disowned by his party. Plenty of other pols, though, would have used that as motivation to scrape even harder to get back in our good graces. Yet even people with that earthly motivation might find inspiration in Bush’s example. Sometimes, the best way to win America back is to pipe down and paint.
...needs Drumpfuck now more than EVER to be duly prosecuted, convicted, sentenced, and imprisoned for his multiple acts of deliberate, pre-meditated treason against the United States.
There was a video discussion at The Bulwark this morning [eta: The Focus Group Podcast] where they discussed the Trump-to-Biden voters and played clips from interviews where they explained why they won't be voting for Biden again. Disheartening but interesting. One of the big issues is Biden's age and how he falls a lot and can't answer questions and has 'checked out'. One guy said, and I paraphrase, "at least Reagan was competent when he was president."
President Biden doesn't fall down a lot, does answer questions, and far from checking out, he is on the ball. As for trump, he's not that much younger than the President, and clearly in decline. Besides, there is a good chance that he will be in prison by the 2024 election. Most of all, he can't accept the results of an election that he doesn't like, and spurred an insurrection. HTF can anyone vote for that traitor? Even if you believe all of the crap that the fucking media spews about President Biden, why would you vote for a fucking traitor???
Sorry for the rant, but as I typed, the angrier I got - at the media and at stupid voters.
I just wonder which idiot/asshole is going to step up and be "the third way." After 2016, you'd think people would remember how bad it was for us all that those horrible excuses for humanity were in charge of everything. Not to mention the "2025 Plan." We need to read it and get it to "low information voters." Anyone drawing attention to it in the MSM?
I agree. But you can't deny the visible differences in energy between Trump and Biden. Trump's crazy, but he's also high-energy. And that's one way he won in 2016, remember the whole "low-energy Jeb" thing that he turned on Hillary? If you say it loud enough and often enough, apparently people will just believe you.
I want someone to explain to me why kinetic energy as displayed by a lunatic like Donald Trump is better than potential energy as embodied by a steady hand like Joe Biden.
I also wonder about the chemicals that contribute to Trump's energy.
But he can't walk down a ramp on his own. He rides in golf carts everywhere, when others walk. trump's "high energy" is due to his craziness and possibly prescriptions, and isn't from good health. President Biden is low energy because he is calm, which is what we need, and he is clearly in good health. Too many people are superficial.
We can laugh and/or get angry, but at the end of the day we have to figure out how Biden doesn't lose a chunk of prior supporters for superficial or non-existent reasons.
Fun fact--I can't really chew gum and walk at the same time. I haven't chewed gum in probably 30 years because I once saw myself doing it and it looked gross, and then my teeth went to heck, and now the idea of saliva wads floating around in my mouth just makes me gag without end.
Imagine having the privilege of asking the administration questions about almost anything and then squandering that by asking the same thing as someone else did but in slightly different words.
When I was in high school, there was a local state representative (or state senator--I forget) who would come in for "press conferences" twice a year for the kids taking journalism, and I think was really cool. We had to do research and prep questions, and then he'd come in for an hour, and we all had to write an article.
It was cool--and we'd all write out questions after researching what he did and news of the day, and get feedback on them from the teacher, and the representative would get into it, and sometimes be combative (a little) and throw out really quotable stuff to get you to latch onto it, and then he invited us to visit him at the capitol.
True, although office stenographers (if there are any of those left) perform a real service for the business where they work. Media personalities sounds like the perfect term for these folks.
Breaking news: Will Hurd said today that he was ending his bid for the Republican presidential nomination, and threw his support to Nikki Haley. This is not expected to matter much.
Our dog from when I was a kid lived to 16, and I still have dreams of her, and I'll pick her up and then think--wait! She's 51! I wish all the good pets could live forever, but then I think of how they'd miss us if we went first.
This is one of those terrible things about life--it's too much and not enough.
(this sounded better in my head than it does here, but I'm just going to leave it)
Ta, Evan.
"Red haired weirdo?!"
Lol!
Takes one to know one!

The few comments that I read disagree with her.
Good.

He's not back in our good graces, he's absent from our thought
That's the point. He's taken himself out of the spotlight and news cycle.
Famed dumb blond plagiarist Monica Crowley.

Drumpfuck, OUT ON BAIL.....
They left out "to go away."
How can they publish something so divorced from reality? Not separated, not just filed papers, but divorced as in finalized long ago?
It's pretty galling what "free speech" permits these disingenuous prats to get away with, isn't it?
But it's not a cult or anything
Who the hell is she and what is she smokin?
“Is the President frustrated by how us journalists keep reporting on everything except his domestic accomplishments?”
“We acknowledge that you know you are doing that, and feel that you really should know why you do it. Next question!”
I can't believe she actually had to end the press conference with basically...
The president can chew gum and walk at the same time.

It's happening already - that "No Labels" idiocy.

Exactly. Did I read the above comment wrong. Trump is high-energy?! Since when? He shambles. His voice sounds shot half the time.
In other words, you reacted normally. Like a normal human being.
Bwahahahaha! Reagan was already senile by the end of the first year of his second term.
We can laugh and/or get angry, but at the end of the day we have to figure out how Biden doesn't lose a chunk of prior supporters for superficial or non-existent reasons.

"But can he ride a unicycle across a tightrope while juggling?"
I can (could) handle the unicycle while juggling, but never managed the tightrope. Guess I can't be President.
I can believe it. Because the White House Press Corpse is a disgrace to journalism.
As you put it - they are media personalities.
"Why are all the world's conflicts the fault of the Biden administration?"
I am surprised that they haven't blamed him for the fall of the Western Roman Empire, the Salem Witch Trials and the assignation of JFK yet.
You mean why didn't he stop George Santos's multi-millenium crime spree?
Give 'em a minute. They'll get to it eventually.
Imagine having the privilege of asking the administration questions about almost anything and then squandering that by asking the same thing as someone else did but in slightly different words.
This is why I want them to all be replaced by middle schoolers.
And Teen Vogue. And Thrasher. And, and...

Yeah, DeSatan's a royal arsehole, that he is....
If I found myself being president, I'd have a press conference just for the DC area high school papers.
Real reporters or journalists wouldn't do that, but these folks are lazy.
These are not reporters or journalists. They're stenographers and media personalities. Nothing more.
True, although office stenographers (if there are any of those left) perform a real service for the business where they work. Media personalities sounds like the perfect term for these folks.
chasing a narrative
Seeking sensationalism.
These are not clever, insightful journalists.
What are the odds that probably 80% or more of reporters come from upper-class families? Their questions reflect their coddled lifestyles.

No Lie with Brian Tyler Cohen:
Wow. Trump’s handlers just rushed journalists away after people start chanting “Lock him up” as Trump arrived in New Hampshire.

I'm holding out for the day when one of those pissed off patriots gets close enough to tape a sign that says, "I'm a Traitor/KickMe!" on his back.
Thank you, fellow NHers. Represent.
I FEEL SEEN!! Way to go, hilarious Patriots.
Too late.
LMAO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
"What is Biden willing to do to ensure the Republicans in the House stop punching themselves in the dick while eating their own boogers?"
I would certainly be helpful to have a Speaker of the House.
Okay, I just fell in love a little bit.
"It's Day Eleventy-Three with no Speaker of the House. On the bright side, there isn't a Republican."

This is good news for Doug Burgum.

I grew up listening to KROQ in the 80's . That's really sad.
Aw, man. I really liked her on Sirius Deep Tracks channel. I feel fortunate to have been able to hear her even at the last stage of her life.
Yeah, she's still living in nutso-land. Hasn't learned a thing...
Post-Plea, Sidney ‘Kraken’ Powell Still Singing Trump’s Tune | Right Wing Watch
https://www.rightwingwatch.org/post/post-plea-sidney-kraken-powell-still-singing-trumps-tune/
"Trump attorney Steve Sadow saying the pleas by Powell and others were the result of pressure from Willis under threat of prison time."
Generally, that's how I'd expect pleas happen. So, not sure what his problem is there.
However, in other contexts, plea pressure is a real issue that many people question if the process is fair and equitable.
She can always withdraw her cooperation, then do the prison time.
Stupid woman, he's already shoved you under the bus.

Just got here. Has the Doofus guy asked a question yet? I didn't specify "stupid question" because all of his questions are stupid.
