It's always amused me that the vast majority of Americans who proclaim their love of heritage through this flag don't it know was only flown during battle by the Army of Northern Virginia. While I'll grant you that it was a pretty important unit, the flag never represented the confederacy as a whole, it was merely used in battle by some of its forces. It's almost akin to waiving around one sports team's logo and insisting it represents the entire league. I'm pretty sure it's not standard curriculum, but in Canada I was taught that little tidbit in grade 5...how is it that so many Americans have never learned about the various confederate flags used in their own civil war, especially those in the South?
