Work with an editor on a pseudonym? Or-- as I've done once-- just go with Name withheld. Totes legit. It's hard to mob all the people who that could be.

I know how it feels to be mobbed. My surprise was finding that they don't really want anything but to feel that they're achieving something. Finding a leader they can talk to can work. They're working to suppress what they're thinking because they have no better place to go if they acknowledge it. If you can publish, you move the possibility of

Lemme guess. All these miscreants will call themselves patriots while brandishing the Confederate flag (the best example of someone who thinks that irony is what you do to clothes to get the wrinkles out).

But if I call it a clip instead of a magazine, I can be ignored for not using the right terminology... Sure...

I can see I should bring a flamethrower to one of these gun humper gatherings. No worries, I'm a responsible flamethrower owner. I'll just ignite the pilot light. Probably.

But there's no shortage of people who want to be above the law and are trying hard. Taking their chief example from the U.S. president. Who certainly is setting one."L'etat, c'est moi. la loi, c'est moi, et le bon dieu et les anges sont moi aussi."

In Michigan, the DeVos machine (with a little help from Betsy's Blackwater brother Erik Prince, the murderous Christo-fascist consultant to the Trump regime) funded and organized the Michigan version of this fascist garbage. In Kentucky it's the McConnell machine, with help and guidance from Scott Morrison.

In North Carolina, it's the Art Pope machine. Art Pope is North Carolina's Charles Koch mini-me wanna-be. He bankrolled the Koch-style, bribery-and-propaganda driven Republican Big Lie campaign that transformed what was once one of the most progressive and promising and lovely states of the old Confederacy, into the polarized, stinking hot mess it is today.

Like all Republicans everywhere, Art Pope is not best pleased that a lot of folks are all of a sudden fighting back. Like all Republicans everywhere, Art Pope clearly wants folks to be afraid that if they don't shut up, some Nazi boys with scarves on their faces and Tucker Carlson mantras on their lips will come along and gun them down.

Like all Republicans everywhere, Art Pope has clearly forgotten that a) Republicans don't have all the guns (this is America, after all), and b) democracy is popular, especially when a lot of people realize all at once how close they've come to losing it.

I don't necessarily think people should arm themselves unless they want to go through the full process of embracing being a safe gun owner. Buying a gun is the easy part.

And yes, a lot of people aren't doing that already. But watching people on the right flocking to buy guns they don't really understand, have no idea how to properly use, and lacking any grounding context in their normal lives is not particularly helpful ... on any level.

So I'm not immediately seeing how mirroring the behavior on the left would be much benefit. Why do you think liberals should put in the effort to safely arm themselves? What are the guns for? Do you imagine a liberal paramilitary faction engaging in running gun battles with these a-holes or something?
