Looks like the lamestream media is on another witch hunt for decent non-racist politicians. It's so sad how all this Political Correctness is oppressing people and keeping them from speaking freely, just because some people don't like the stuff that comes out of their mouth-parts. Today we have two victims of self-inflicted Free Speech: Don Yelton, a North Carolina Republican precinct chair who was asked to resign after being a bit too honest with The Daily Show about the state's new voter suppression laws; and Mark Lewis, the former mayor of El Cajon, California, who stepped down today following criticism over his remarks about Chaldean kids in his community who qualify for free school lunches but are supposedly "being picked up by Mercedes Benzes" from school; he also had said that when the Iraqi Christians refugees come to America, "it doesn't take them too long to learn where all the freebies are at." What ever happened to the First Amendment's guarantee that you can say anything you want and never be criticized for it?
Poor Don Yelton was forced to resign Thursday after the Daily Show segment on North Carolina's voting laws aired Wednesday night. Among other things, he said that the laws were primarily designed to keep Democrats from voting, and there's nothing racist about the laws if they also happen to hurt "lazy black people that wants the government to give them everything," or "a bunch of lazy college kids too lazy to get up off their bohunkus and get a photo ID, so be it."
Buncombe GOP Chair Henry Mitchell said in a press release,
"Let me make it very clear, Mr. Yelton's comments do not reflect the belief or feelings of Buncombe Republicans, nor do they mirror any core principle that our party is founded upon ... This mentality will not be supported or propagated within our party."
Miller didn't even seem willing to give any credit to Yelton for the fact that one of his very best friends is black, which seems downright unfair of him. Heck, you'd think that admitting that the laws were designed to suppress Democrat votes, no matter who they came from, would be enough to clear Yelton of any charges of racism.
And in La Jolla, Mark Lewis, who had been mayor since 1998, resigned after community outrage over recently released audio of an interview he'd given to The Progressive last spring. Among other charming observations, Lewis told reporter Arun Gupta that Chaldean criminals were getting in the way of other races' criminals:
Lewis can also be heard on the tape saying, “There’s lots of prostitutes in regards to the Middle Eastern community” and telling Gupta that the increasing number of Chaldeans had touched off drug-related tension among three different minority communities.
“The Mexican community feels intimidated, in regards to Chaldeans trying to get into their turf, in regards to selling drugs,” Lewis says. “Same as the Black Africans, Black Americans.”
And now El Cajon is going to have to find a new mayor, since they no longer have clear-eyed realist Mark Lewis at the helm, managing the simmering racial tensions of the small desert city with the street smarts of a politician from The Wire.
Well that's certainly part of it. They hear the same bunkum (see what I did there?) ricocheting around in their personal echo chamber for so long that they regard as being self-evident, like the sun rising each morning. Then when they express it while speaking a general audience they are completely unprepared when anyone takes issue with it.
You know...that Yelton fella looks kinda like Rod Huggins from Achewood...except Huggins is a cartoon character and I would still rather hang out with a fictional character than this clown fuck.
