We're not going to get everything we want, because you never do, but I think we'll get more good news than bad on election night. I'm hoping for more pleasant than unpleasant surprises. You shouldn't take the polls as gospel, and there will always be errors, but I think it means something that so many races seem to be moving left. That's my dime store analysis.

I know many people have already said this but - it is a bit sad that blatant, in your face, unapologetic corruption, fascism, pedephilia and racism barely moved the needle but the price of gas ripped it off the dial

I mean at least he’s honest (when he thinks he’s not being recorded).

You should send "Price Hike Mike" to the Al-Sayed campaign.

OT: also I wonder how many people declaring the disruption of the NYC vigil MUST have been a false flag realize they sound like MAGA talking about January 6th?

Sometimes people on your own side fuck up. You don't shift blame, you figure out what to do about it.

… In a survey from the Cato Institute, 89 percent of Americans over age 65 said Social Security benefits should be protected even if it meant higher taxes for younger workers.

This sparked conservative backlash on social media.

“Just as it isn’t boomers’s fault that politicians stole their social security — or that leftists of all generations voted for the pols who did it — it’s not the responsibility of the generations that follow to make up for it by giving up more of our incomes,” conservative radio host Dana Loesch wrote on X.

Political commentator Matt Walsh wrote: “Stealing from young families to pay much higher net worth Boomers is immoral and ridiculous. Young families already have to deal with an economy where everything is exponentially more expensive than it was for Boomers at the same age. Older people clamoring to raise taxes on the young, on top of it all, is just perverse.” …

JD Vance on H-1B recipients: "It's one thing if you were to bring in a person like Elon Musk. I think 99% of American citizens look at somebody like Elon Musk and say, 'if that person wants to come in and build something great in the US, we support that.' But if you're bringing in an accountant... "

This is so awesome:

Gotta hand it to Trump, "Talafreako" is really good, in his genre.

But then you have to really hand it, and a lot more of it, to Talarico for embracing it.

Would be a better "Sir" story if she had tears in her eyes:

"Speaking at a rally in Texas, Trump lashed out at Talarico by calling him a “vegan.” He usually mispronounces “vegan” as “vay-gun,” which is something late-night host Jimmy Kimmel mocked him for earlier this week. Trump got it right on Wednesday, and said that was because of an intervention by first lady Melania Trump.

“My wife told me, ‘Sir, do me a favor, you have to do me just a little bit of a favor. It’s not vay-gun, it’s vegan."

Did she have tears in her eyes when she called him "Sir"??????

Notorious J.I.M.'s avatar

Her eyes probably water any time she enters the gas cloud in his orbit.

EyeQueue's avatar

Yeah, his fucking shitwife calls him "Sir." Sure.

He got her mixed up with Natalie.

EyeQueue's avatar

Oh, dang I didn't even think of that. Good call.

tek's avatar

Melania calling him "Sir"

He's reaching new heights of insanity.

Melania would be more likely to say "do me favor, get out of my fooking room"

Being released's avatar

People are saying it’s weird and not true that Melon calls him sir, but really he’s confusing his wife with Natalie.

sounds legit.

OT: Since some folks blocking me prevents me from replying, the ICC has NOT convicted Israel or anyone in its government of genocide. They have had CHARGES of genocide brought before them and are investigating those.

There are warrants of arrest for Bibi and Yoav Gallant for War Crimes and potential Crimes Against Humanity (both of which I think is correct), but "genocide" is never mentioned in their order. https://www.icc-cpi.int/news/situation-state-palestine-icc-pre-trial-chamber-i-rejects-state-israels-challenges

The current leadership of Hamas has similar and more extensive warrants out for them as well. https://www.icc-cpi.int/news/situation-state-palestine-icc-pre-trial-chamber-i-issues-warrant-arrest-mohammed-diab-ibrahim

Since Hamas is Gaza's government, we're kind of at a very fucked up stalemate. Hamas has stated its plans to regroup and attack again whenever they feel ready. Israel has stated it is going to prevent that militarily. They've both taken missile strikes over the past year but neither has escalated to full open warfare again. Meanwhile Gaza is already back at its pre-war population.

A lot of western ProPalis don't want to hear it, but you can't get peace or a resolution to this long series of wars and terrorism by only listening to one side. Palestinians and Israelis have legit grievances and concerns about both the status quo and what moving forward would look like. You cannot reach peace by shutting out everything remotely connected to Israel. Ironically doing so just makes Bibi correct when he claims the whole world is against Israel's existence and being reasonable will do them no good.

Frankly my main worry is the Flydubai incident will boost Bibi and is allies enough to stay in power even though he's so unpopular personally (he's #3 on my list of "the world is better if they just drop dead" partly b/c I think his coalition breaks down without him, similar to Trump's hold on the GOP). That will preclude any change on the Israeli side for at least a few more years. I'm not seeing any chance of change on the Gazan side unless we find ways to support the anti-Hamas movement over there without getting the Gazans trying to subvert Hamas killed in the process (very hard, even Gazans who just worked with aid groups during the war have gotten killed by Hamas). PA has a better chance of reforms in the WB, especially when Abbas finally dies, but that will rely partially on who controls Israel how much gets done. And heaven help us all if there's a power vacuum and Hamas seizes power there too.

I am going to vote *hard* and I urge everyone else to also vote *hard*. But it is, Vizzini the Sicilian notwithstanding, inconceivable to me that if the election swings against him as seems likely, Trump and his henchmen and idiot footsoldiers are not going to go full sedition. Having a decomposed fig leaf for that has been a primary purpose of all the rhetoric about cheating and all the voting suppression initiatives, made more evident when you recognize that in a number of cases they did more harm to voters in his base (e.g., rural) than to other voters. And their open embrace of illegal campaign instruments (notably, without consequences) is nothing less than flying their banner of utter contempt for election law.

Vote *hard* and gird your loins. I'm thinking it's going to get ugly like we haven't seen ugly.

Judging from what I’m getting from YouTube commercials (a constant!), Paxton isn’t even willing to show up on his own campaign ads. Instead, all we’re getting in Texas is attack ads taking Talarico blatantly out of context (not even real rebuttals, just calling him “weird”) paid for by something called “MAGA PAC,” and “Talarico is for they/them, not us!”

And from a PAC not officially affiliated with Talarico, we’ve got “I’m a conservative Republican and I hate Ken Paxton’s corrupt guts” ads.

Barring vote rigging, I honestly don’t think Kenny Boy has a chance in Hell this year. But I’m trying not to be overconfident.
