That's my guy! I've contributed to both his AG and Governor campaigns.

Good for Pennsylvania, especially the education stuff.

Illinois should be in this list too, since JB signed a bunch of firearms laws this past weekend.

Mavenmaven's avatar

Wow, a decent guy who cares. I guess that ensures that the Trumpists will harass him.

Govs. Polis in Colorado, Inslee in WA and Pritzker in Ill have been in the hunt for Best Gov as well. I fantasize about a Republic of the West where we have the left coast states, a land bridge across southern Arizona that joins up with New Mexico, with a sharpie circle that goes out to loop in Las Vegas and adds in Colorado along the mountains.

Everyone ignores Maine, but Janet Mills has done some great progressive stuff here. Amazing leadership on climate, free school lunch, reforming various LePage-fucked elements...

Aren't the Proud Boys (apparently mis-named, thus masks and goggles and such) all about Las Vegas City council?

My parents and one of their college buddies met Josh Shapiro during one of his campaign stops in Philadelphia. They all chatted about Good Things for Pennsylvania, and then he invited them to sign his tour bus with a Sharpie, and they did, and I am going to be happy about this for the rest of my life.

PaulDietzel's avatar

By the time that bus got to my little PA hometown all the places I could reach with the Sharpie were taken. So I just signed it in my mind.

Gammarae's avatar

I once got to sign the Nuns on the Bus bus! Not religious, but a big fan of the nuns.

The entire government could be like that.

If only the dumbass voters would get out of their own way.

But, but .... THOSE people might get something!

[Ed Note: THOSE people are any group of people who are not the RIGHT people]

It used to be "cut your nose to spite your own face" was used to indicate a bad thing. Now people are taking it as policy.

Hear ye hear ye, it’s time for Grammar and Common Idioms in English!

TO HORN IN ON = Intrude, join without being invited. For example, She has a rude way of horning in on our conversations. This expression alludes to an ox or bull pushing in with its horns.

TO HOME IN ON = to locate and move toward (like a hawk to a bunny)

TO HONE IN ON = to focus on and or perfect (like quadratic equations)

Thank you for indulging my grammar lesson todat.

So they used it correctly is what you're saying.

Rocket Cat and Last Free Folk's avatar

It depends on whether you horning, homing, or honing in on it.

I’m liking the deep bench in the Democratic Party these days.

Staramour's avatar

I like the idea of Shapiro as a presidential nominee after he's had enough time as gov to be generally awesome, such as this post demonstrates!

Robyn's avatar

After Biden's second term, I'm swearing off white male candidates

Priceofcivilization's avatar

A Jewish president would be as big a step forward as a Black president IMHO. It’s the Christian nationalism that makes me sick. I wouldn’t vote for a Christian nationalist even if he/she was Black or a woman.

Remember Saul Alinsky. Or Bernie.

John Thorstensen's avatar

I don't care about their gender or ethnicity, as long as they're strong candidates who win and then do good things. Then again, I'm an Old White Male myself.

(And sorry, kids! Not gonna run! I'd be a dreadful President, but probably not actively malignant.)

Wookiee Monster's avatar

Naturally, republicans here are pissed Shapiro didn’t include any money for school vouchers. He has this crazy idea that taxpayer money should fund public schools.

California likes doing nice things for citizens, too. I got an email from Gov Gav this morning about the constitutional amendment under consideration in the Cali legislature to regulate firearms. That's the US Constitution, not California's. I'm sure it will pass here, then only 33 states to go.

FukuiSanYesOta's avatar

Thank goodness this fine chap defeated that Doug Mastriano lunatic.

V4Virginia's avatar

Oh, heavenly dog, seriously. We did not need a wingnut running PA.

LuluBean12 StarGeezer's avatar

Never vote for a religious nut who claims God speaks directly to them.

I'd seen reports that his campaign rallies were a lot like tent revival meetings .

PaulDietzel's avatar

Mastriano was rumored to be running for Senate vs Bob Casey but I think he ran out of steam. Now they're talking about McCormick. (Lost to Oz so never got a chance to lose to Fetterman.) McCormick lives in Connecticut but the Repubs were OK with Oz living in Jersey so no big deal for them.

Sylvanite's avatar

Doesn’t PA have its own supply of conservative nightmare people?

Daniel O'Riordan's avatar

They have to go out-of-state for their candidates, and that's the best they can do?
