Ta, Dok. I have never been a fan of infernal combustion engines, which (along with being a Manhattanite) is one of the reasons I've never learned to drive. Time to change that.

BMW i3 can be all-electric or include a 2-cylinder range extender. i've seen them below $10K a few times. when the first round were coming off lease there were a ton going cheap. seem to have gone up in price now. MB B-class have a bunch in the $11-14K range.

both of those with rear seats down and being hatches look to have a decent amount of carrying capacity.

The beauty of EV infrastructure is that - unlike gasoline - you can put charging stations anywhere. No need for an entire store primarily devoted to that one thing.

I heard something the other day about the incentives being about to be cut in half for most EVs when the "Buy American" requirement kicks in. Something something, most new EVs won't meet the threshold percentage for the $7k credit, or something like that.
