"Our service members are paying the heaviest price for Trump’s new Middle East war. The very least he can do as Commander-in-Chief is support them, not insult them."
US President Donald Trump on Monday threatened to bomb Oman if it “gets in the way” of a deal with Iran on the strait of Hormuz and called for Iran to surrender.
Referring to ongoing talks between Oman and Iran on control of the strait, while Washington is also pursuing its own talks, Trump told Fox News journalist Trey Yingst:
"If Oman gets in the way, we’ll bomb the shit out of them."
He added that Iran should “put up the white flag of surrender,” according to Yingst’s post on X on his interview with the president.
No offense to the author, and I suppose I should take the TEN MONTHS since it was written into account, but I am so so so so so so so so SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO sick and tired of articles discussing or postulating "Why?"
Why they voted for him, why they will again, why they abandoned him, why they will NEVER abandon him, why they turned into inhuman, sociopathic parasites, why it's UNDERSTANDABLE that they turned into inhuman, sociopathic parasites, why, why, why, blah blah blah.
I DO NOT CARE ANYMORE.
If I ever did to begin with.
What I'm INTERESTED in, what we ALL should be thinking about, is WHAT TO DO ABOUT THEM. Because if we take the article at face value, the only way to stop this is to end "state sponsored Republican propaganda" and return "to some sort of requirement that the media actually report true and factual information."
That... is not going to happen with the alacrity needed to prevent these MAGA zealots from DIRECTLY murdering millions of people, instead of the indirect method they're currently using to kill millions. They need to be dealt with, SOMEHOW, SOON, and everyone is so fucking squeamish about even STARTING that discussion. Which is NOT going to work out great, because a decision needs to be made.
They cannot be trusted. They cannot be reasoned with. They cannot be allowed to wield so much as the power of a vote anymore; they have proven themselves to be too dangerous, too stupid, too evil, or too ALL of those things to be allowed even a voice about the future of humanity.
*I* know where MY two starting positions are. I'm betting I'm not alone. It sure would be nice if people with cooler heads, greater compassion, and less thirst for vengeance than myself stopped endlessly yammering about WHY, and thought more about the discomforting but necessary question of WHEN and WHAT.
Something that came to mind at the Wonkette Movie Night this last Saturday is that we don't see so many effigies being hanged and burned these days. It used to be a political message delivered by people who were fed up and pissed off.
CCR cut a track, 6:28 long so not exactly a hit single candidate, on the subject. It is, unsurprisingly, called "Effigy." Maybe it's a tradition that needs to be called back. Here's a link to the record: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=UcVEcKdMifU
That Habibi city article has gotten a lot of pushback for being overly obsessed with ignoring Israeli cuisine and Jewish people in general. Sorry, they are part of that region! You don't get to pretend they're not part of the culture and haven't been for centuries! Get over it! Talking about middle eastern food in NYC without mentioning Jews is a very weird thing
Yup. Mamdani is also getting side eyed for assembling an 18 person legal advisory board without a single Jew on it. Again, in NYC. It's statistically improbable to do by accident. Like half the city's lawyers are Jewish.
M and I celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary yesterday with friends and family at the same inn restaurant in Duxbury MA where we had our wedding reception, although it is now under new ownership. The actual date is the 21st. The weather was perfect for outdoor photos and an afterparty outside.

"He said current conservative thought leaders, like himself, are largely unwelcome from higher education institutions like Stanford Law School."
Clarence considers himself a "conservative thought leader". That's just adorable...
Issuing shock gloves to poorly trained, undisciplined thugs? What could possibly go wrong?
Undisciplined Thug:
"Can't we crank the voltage higher?"
"Hey, Moe!"
They forget to take it off when they have to pee? Oh wait, you said something "wrong".
Everything?
"Poor baby Clarence Thomas whining that he’s not welcome at Ivy League schools,..."
Clarence has never had a good word to say about Yale anyway, so what's the problem?
Yale sucks. They admitted me. What more proof do you need?
Yale is excellent!
(my youngest graduated there)
Maybe Clarence and the Dersh could hook up for a coffee clasp.
No pierogi tho.
Bologna on Wonder Bread. Don't skimp on the Hellmans.
Isn't he the one who says he doesn't want to hire Ivy League graduates as clerks?
Dude on the commuter train: stay home when you're sick and cover your mouth when you cough! Nobody wants your creeping crud, Typhoid Larry!
Grr!
gross
Preach.

Cheers! Which restaurant? Duxbury is my home town.
Cheers to a remarkable milestone! Reaching the golden milestone of 50 years together is like winning the ultimate relationship marathon.
Happy anniversary!
