Never once, in all my life, have I ever heard Maryville called a college town. If you've been to Maryville for more than five minutes–I have family who grew up and still live in Maryville, you would know that Maryville is not tethered to any institution of learning, higher or otherwise. Maryville College would not even call Maryville a college town. This is not a defense of Maryville but of college towns. Do better, The Atlantic.

I had to scroll past that carefully crafted text because I’m still trying to fall asleep. I just wanted to share with you all the fact that I figured out that on a certain level, it is possible that insomniacs are awake because they don’t want to fall asleep. They might miss something, and they’re having too much fun playing with ideas in their head. So you really shouldn’t feel sorry for us no matter how much we whine theatrically, because the deep secret is thinking is too much fun to put it down and leave it to morning. But I should really try.
I used to have that problem, and then I discovered journaling/writing it all down about an hour before bedtime to get the worries out of my head worked amazingly. A nice long soak in the tub works wonders as well.

I would journal and then send the pages through the shredder, or toss them in the fireplace in winter. Very cathartic.
