RE: "At least this time it was the Jewish students who got to have a good snit"

It doesn't say in the Times Herald article that the majority of the students against this are Jewish.

There are multiple languages that could reasonably claim to be the true "Persian". Dari and Farsi are the most common of them. Farsi is spoken in Iran.

Some of the fluid dynamics number cruncher types still use Fortran, supposedly for the 15% performance advantage. I think it's really just a fashion statement.

Sadly, treating people like human beings goes quite contrary to DoD training.

Most human beings have an instinctive aversion to ending another human's life. It takes a LOT of training to work that out of a soldier, and part of that training is learning how to dehumanize the "bad guys".

The military has to work with the lowest common denominator. It's easier to just say "All dem Ay-rabs is the enemy", over "Well some of the people here want to hurt you, some don't. Don't hurt the innocent populace, go after the insurgents."

I'm glad I had control of my escort team for the most part. Those soldiers who had the "Kill all Haji!" mentality quickly found themselves shunted off to some other duty.

Later that day the school cafeteria served lunch that included cups of yogurt Mesopotamian freedom custard without incident. Mrs. Bruno's class in Algebra Liberty Math was held as scheduled. In other news, at a meeting held later that week, the Pine Bush CSD school board voted to change the Pine Bush SHS school motto from "Wisdom Through Knowledge" to "Mission Accomplished." The school's mascot will continue to be the Bushie. (A motion to change the mascot, based on the contention that the creature it is derived from is only found in Connecticut Texas Florida New Hampshire and Iowa, failed to garner any votes in its favor.)
