Newt's Latest Big Idea: Laying Off Tons of Staffers Due To Total Lack of Money

Newt Gingrich settled into his masturbatorium in recent days to sit down and think Big Thoughts, which he would then convert into Big Ideas, which would leave him with very little doubt that he would be the nominee, of course. He came up with this:  "Newt Gingrich is cutting back his campaign schedule, will lay off about a third of his cash-strapped campaign’s full-time staff, and has replaced his manager as part of what aides are calling a 'big-choice convention' strategy, communications director Joe DeSantis told POLITICO." Clearly, and fundamentally -- and the news media will of course never understand this, of course, fundamentally -- his decision to make these drastic cutbacks in his presidential campaign operation is the obvious call that any brilliant man would make, regardless of money. It's simply a Big Choice Convention strategy, fundamentally.

Of course he could fund a large campaign, because he is Newt Gingrich, but you know, this genius is making a grand strategic decision to cut back time campaigning. This is too difficult for most cretins to understand, but in 100 years, maybe they will get it. This is a digital campaign. It is a campaign from the future.

DeSantis said the former Speaker will continue to visit states with primaries, but will have a less intense campaign schedule. DeSantis promised that the campaign will be “more positive and ideas-focused,” eschewing attacks on Republican rivals. The aide said the campaign will be more digital, focusing on low-cost communications tools, including informational videos, social media and the web.

“We think that a big part of how we succeed is getting back to core Gingrich, which is a focus on big ideas and positive solutions – having someone who is intimately aware of Newt’s policy positions and the way things are framed, and has been working with Newt for so long on the policy front. We think that having him as the campaign manager is very important.”

This has been the strategy from day one; do not think otherwise. This is exactly how things were expected to go.
