Russia ended serfdom (slavery) in 1861. When was the emancipation proclamation again? January 1st 1863.

not arguing with you, but i honestly don't know. is the recall measure in place to get someone who has committed crimes etc out? is there another mechanism to do this, in case you accidentally elect a monster?

You need to pay attention more closely. Why do you think they didn't let her take over Judiciary (I read)?

The scumbag doesn't understand how sexual harassment works.

OR - alternately - he understands exactly how it works.

Ending the slave trade was a big deal. Nobody had tried that before. It proved extremely difficult to accomplish in practice.

Cuba was slow too.

Do Democrats have the power to alter the recall mechanism? At the very least they should change it so that any challenger must get 50% of the vote, or face a runoff against the incumbent.

The current recall mechanism is just insane, in that it guarantees a winner who has a very small proportion of the vote, as compared to the guy he wants to replace.

ummm... impeachment, maybe?
