I live in Florida (I know, I know, but I was here first, dammit!) and my district is already gerrymandered to hell and back. They really can't make the maps much more red, but they sure as heck are going to try. Ugh- can't wait for this to be over.

Florida elections have been corrupt since Katherine Harris & I don't see them getting any better in the near future.

Okay - which blue-leaning states remain options for redistricting before November, to counteract Florida?

Think with just califorrnia and virginia we're off setting all of them.

The problem they face is that they were already gerried out the wazoo, so they really can't make too many MORE seats even in their strong holds. And as we saw in that special in Texas, further gerrymandering might actually stretch themselves too thin.

Having said that, I think ALL the blue states (except New York, because Albany is a cluster) should just do it, just to give the GOP a big finger

Ta, Dok. We're so disgusted by That Thing in the Offal Office that sometimes we forget about bootsy DeathSentence. How I wish there were a hell in which he'd burn for eternity.

DeSantis looked at a state constitution that says “don’t draw maps for partisan advantage” and apparently read it like a dare.

Twenty-four Republican seats out of twenty-eight in a state that is not remotely 85 percent Republican is not democracy. That is a hostage note written in red districts.

Blessed be the dummymander. May it trip over its own arrogance and land face-first in turnout.

These attempts by the Republicans assume that their voters will continue to vote for them; at tighter margins and with even a tiny defection, they might rue the day they took these decisions. I really love that for them.

Also, it shows in high relief which party believes in democracy and which doesn't. I sure hope enough Americans are paying attention.

OT- sometime in the next two weeks we will be told that gasoline prices will drop once Trump’s ballroom is built.

This Politico article has a great graphic showing the shift of voting to the left during all recent special and interim elections.

But how did they note how it was bad news for Democrats?

Pretty sure the Floridian term is "Fackbires"

Once again, our wise elders knew of the perfect solution to the problem that is Florida:

at this point i'd expect the sinister six supremes to rule that state constitutions can't ban partisan gerrymanders.

Beautiful cat.

Looking at the old and new maps, it appears that some of the blue is surrounded by pale red, not deep red. I do wonder if this might blow up on DeSantis. Especially since the same number of independents as democrats oppose this gerrymander. I think the midterms in states like Florida and Texas are going to be too close to call until election day.

Gas in my immediate area jumped in the past two days from about $3.89/3.95 to $4.19. And Iran isn't stopping any time soon. Both Brent and Oil are skyrocketing. Airlines are complaining about a shortage of jet fuel. ... . None of the kitchen table issues are even receiving honorable mention from the WH.

Boy this gerrymandering shit was a lot of fun this year (and last year). Another blessing from Trump to further undermine Jefferson, Madison, et al.

Dems better not dawdle. They better not dink around like 2021-2025. Some group better be assuming they win the House and/or Senate right now, and assume they win the presidency in 2028. And we might not. But if we do, let’s use this group to go guns blazing immediately. Like a sane version of the Heritage Foundation.
