Stupid decision or smrt decision?

Sure, on the surface Dear Leader has splintered the MAGAt base and risks repercussions up to a decade of boots in Iran. Stupid.

But it may be smrt in a purely Trumpian way to sow chaos that will invariably lead to protests if this war thing drags on for a while.

Protests give an excuse to dust off those laws from the 1700s and from the WW I era that will allow him to stomp down on people exercising their rights. He was itching to shoot protesters during his first maladministration.

And he doesn't need the MAGAt vote any longer. Let them bitch and protest, too, their bodies are as vulnerable to bullets as your vegan leftie war protesters.

He as much as said they will never have to vote again. And if he doesn't need their vote, he doesn't give a shit about them. Sure, he'd like them to support him because he is a needy, narcissistic ball of bottomless ego, but he will make do with having them fear and worship him if he must.

This post didn't age well. It's a normal and generally valid conclusion to interpret "two weeks" as forgetting the entire notion, but you do have to take wussy manliness issues into account. I said it before, Putin has publicly humiliated Trump and this is Trump's big opportunity to "show Putin who's boss" in some stupid and peripheral way, like awkwardly standing as straight as possible to appear a little taller or tightening his girdle so his flab is forced up to his "chest." Of course Trump was gonna seize on it, especially when he saw that troops on the streets was not playing in Peoria.

Just speaking for myself, I find it impossible to believe anything Donald Trump or anyone who works directly for him says. So when he and they step up to the podium and say, "We've done something and it achieved a stupendous super-duper never-been-seen-before-in-human-history level of success," my approach is to say, "Let's see how the news unfolds in coming days and weeks." DID they destroy Fordow, etc? I'll believe it if and when it's independently verified by honest grown-ups. Then there is the aftermath of whatever "success" this may turn out to be -- the possible closing of the Strait of Hormuz, the probable economic consequences, and so forth. Another thing other countries will surely notice is that Trump lied about his timeline -- he issued his standard "two-week waiting period" scheme, and bombed within a few days, apparently without reference to any peace talks. Why would anyone EVER believe anything Trump says?

No one ever believes anything PAB says.

But he is the best at "deal." No one does "deal" better than Donald J. Trump. Like "deal" the likes no one has ever seen before.

The reverberations of this could be massive: China could unload its T bills (Iran is its oil buddy, so it cannot be pleased), what we're seeing as Iran retaliated against Israel (reportedly it fired missiles in bursts of 20 or less and nearly all got through; the Iron Dome appears to be toast, and the interceptors used against the ballistic missiles are like $10 million apiece), oil prices could spike and there those pesky gas prices go up, the stock market could take a big shit, other countries could get involved, and Iran could decide let's play hardball and hit US bases that would require a ground invasion that costs thousands of lives and thousands more maimed, cost trillions of dollars and last a decade. A lot of Iranians may not be real happy with their government, but our past experience with invading countries -- from the Philippines to Vietnam to Iraq -- shows that when you invade a country, the people seem to focus their ire on the people who are invading them and not their own leaders.

A ground invasion of Iran would not be a pleasant exercise for anyone, other than Raytheon and Boeing and their ilk.

I believe we can stop all this Trump craziness if the oil producing nations raised the price of oil to 250/300 dollars a barrel. Of course the bargain must be that the US gets rid of Trump and his cos-play government. It's a thought.

WRONG! WRONG! WRONG! Trump is a killer on the loose and must be stopped. I have a suggestion but I won't say it. Bombing Iran ruins any chance of peace in the Mid East and defending Israel as not necessary. It will only drive the Iranian government into itself further. God! What a fool!

CNN:

"Jim Himes, the top Democrat on the House Intelligence Committee, was not briefed before the US’ strikes on Iran — even though his GOP counterpart on the panel, Chairman Rick Crawford, was in contact with the White House, per a person familiar.

Also, Sen. Mark Warner, the ranking Democrat on the Senate Intelligence Committee, also was not briefed before the attack, per a source familiar, but the GOP chairman, Tom Cotton, was briefed.

Both Democrats are on the “Gang of Eight,” which typically would be briefed before a significant US military engagement. The Gang of Eight includes the House and Senate leaders from each party as well as the chairs and ranking members of the House and Senate intelligence committees."

and

"We have completed our very successful attack on the three Nuclear sites in Iran, including Fordow, Natanz, and Esfahan. All planes are now outside of Iran air space. A full payload of BOMBS was dropped on the primary site, Fordow. All planes are safely on their way home. Congratulations to our great American Warriors. There is not another military in the World that could have done this. NOW IS THE TIME FOR PEACE! Thank you for your attention to this matter."

His puppet masters, project 2025 and Steven Miller always intended to do this. Netanyahu's bombing of Iran was the in that they were waiting for. A bunch of opportunistic fucks taking advantage of an opportunity. This isn't anybody's fault for mocking him.

while this is true, i'm sure the media mocking him over his 'two weeks' routine probably hurried him by a few days if nothing else

also, he's been dying to drop an atomic bomb on something or somebody since day one of his first insane presidency, so expect that sometime before fall...or sunrise 🙄

You’re quite welcome, because he was *always* going to do WTF he wanted when he wanted anyway.

He’s solely responsible for what he does, and nobody else; Commander-in-Chief, “the buck stops here”, etc, remember?

Just as likely—if not more so, given his usual MO—this has more to do with taking the attention off the ICE raids, which are a distraction from the tariffs, etc, ad nauseum; *everything* he does is for HIS BENEFIT AND HIS BENEFIT ALONE.
