Definitely not a thing in Portland Public Schools (and it wasn't when I attended decades ago either). Yeah yeah, Portland, I know. We're on fire / overrun with antifa / drag queen story hour in every library / etc.

You know what’s wrong with kids today? They aren’t saying their daily loyalty oaths in class, which is why we need to arm teachers, who are also indoctrinating groomers, and trying to destroy the country! And skinny jeans.

I’m not hot on the “under god” bit either.

if it weren't for the cognitive dissonance there wouldn't be much cognition left, I suppose.

Ms. Haley has as much chance of winning the GOPnazi nomination as I do, so she may as well be her true nasty self.

Who knows: maybe she'll catch up to Someone Else in the polls.

"Our kids needs to be saying the pledge of the allegiance when they start their day so that they know to love America."

I read a comment somewhere recently, (can't remember where, I'm an Old), I think here, that equated the Republican Party to the Nazis Party. I could not agree more. This shit is straight out of their Hitlerjugend playbook.

Apparently if you say "under God," it means we're not commies.

So, no child loved American until the 20th century? Yes, I know the PoA was written in the 19th century, but it didn't become ubiquitous until the 20th.

BTW, Nikki, our founders did not require a loyalty oath from the citizens of the new country; only from its elected officials.

Yo, Nikki! I said the pledge every morning when I was in elementary school. All that mumbo jumbo about Richard Stans, right? And I still think you and all your pals are full o' crap.

I finally figured out why republicans have such a hard on for the pledge. It’s precisely because it is a completely empty gesture of patriotism. Spending a minute or two mumbling some words without ever thinking about what they is exactly the kind meaningless bullshit they love. It doesn’t require any real effort or sacrifice. It’s purely performative. It’s the thoughts and prayers of patriotism. Why actually work to make America greet again when you can show everyone that you love America more than they do by reciting a poem you were forced to memorize in Kindergarten?
