It's weird how "centrist" spoiler candidates always help elect Repubs. Almost like the Democrats are already kinda centrist. But that can't be right, can it?

So good they quit. I do have to say I had no idea the founder was so weird. Nice hat, scarf, Buddhist flags, and fire place....but he doesn't look too smart. I admit I had not delved deeply into the No Labels thing and I'm sorry. I am NOT sorry about them giving up this election.

As long as Presidential election are run as winner-take-all there is no way a third party can be anything but a distraction and a spoiler.

Third parties in the US system are OK if and only iif, when snd only when, there is preferential ballot voting.

I would love for them to do a detailed analysis of the "extremes" of each party. Socialized medicine vs armed revolution? The Squad (4 women) vs the almost always monolithic Republican house? Please, tell us more!

The False Equivalency is strong with credulous idiots such as No Labels and the mainstream media.

I loved the Doonesbury cartoon arc about John B. Anderson:

My personal favorite: https://www.gocomics.com/doonesbury/1980/02/18

"Never heard of him."

"He's never heard of you either. Just read it, okay."

EDIT: This was supposed to be a response to another comment. Don't know why it is at the top.

Thanks for reminding me that John Anderson was the first vote I ever cast as a 19-year-old in 1980. I joined the Army that year, so I paid for it.

Did they actually FORM a "problem solvers' conference" or was that just a dream they had? Because if you look at this Congress, you see a lot of shit, but what you ain't see is nothin' that looks like a Problem Solver. You see some frustrated Dems and some idiots, but problem solving is sooooo 1940s, y'all.

I'm starting to wonder if whenever these freaks say "unifying," they don't mean less partisan hostility; what they really mean is one-party, one-man rule, a state religion, and no elections.

Expand full comment

That is all "unifying" can ever mean unless someone bombs the World Trade Center or Pearl Harbor or the USS Maine again.

See? I "remembered the Maine."

They mean the Dems constantly giving and giving and giving and giving just to get a crumb

I really happy about this .Who else is left to be spoilers? RFK Jr. is challenging Trump for the January 6 hostages so all he can do is take votes away from Trump. Jill Stein?

I'm not exactly a fashion maven or a conna-sewer of backdrops, but I .... question .... Mr. McKinnon's choices on both counts.

Nothing says "deeply serious person" like a brown tweed jacket, open shirt, skinny scarf, and cowboy hat, seated square in front of a rustic stone fireplace in a knotty-pine paneled wall.

I am a sped teacher, and often do IEP meetings with teachers and families on Zoom from home. I had to see to my "backdrop" (just my living room behind me) once one of my colleagues mentioned the array of liquor bottles he had seen displayed behind me on my home bar.

Back in college when the writing on beer cans was block black letters and there was no fancy stripe across the bottom we’d call it beer beer.
