Even with all the measures that are being taken, many, many lives will be lost. To even suggest that we should go full speed ahead into a pandemic is not just vile, it is (vile)².

The ONLY, and I mean ONLY thing that keeps my husband somewhat complaint is the idea that he will make his mother sick and she would die. He mostly believes that this isn't as bad as people say it is, but when I remind him that his mother is fragile, he concedes that we must both be are careful as possible so as not to make her sick. I am thankful for her, because if she weren't here, we'd both have it now because my husband is an idiot. End of story.

One of my husband's coworkers TOOK A CRUISE last week because the prices were so cheap.

Meanwhile, lady returning from New Orleans is quarantined. They need to quarantine that other guy, too. Even my husband thought he was stupid.

I think that if we tested people, everyone who tested negative would run out in crowds and become sick. Because we're idiots bent on our own destruction, it seems.

Red states can, and have. The Texas runoff elections aren't until mid May but they've been postponed until who knows when. John "blah blah blah" Cornyn is running scared and Greg Abbott means to keep him in the Senate.

My MIL is tithing three hundred smackers a month to a church that wouldn't even provide her transportation to and from, back when people were still going to church, and she broke two different bones from falling IN CHURCH. It's a big church, although not a "mega" church, and they don't offer transportation for seniors?? It's a small town. They'd just need to use a couple of vans, and they have those from the daycare!

Oh well, pointless talking about it now, because no one's butts are in those pews.

AARP estimates 3million grandparents are responsable for the care of their grandchildren. Not to mention the millions of grandparents who care for their grandchildren while their parents work. Saving parents thousand s of dollars in daycare. And what about the millions of elderly parents caring for sick or disabled children. Who is going to step in and take responsibility for these children if these old people die on the cross of our economy. Once again a republican solution that creates more problems then it will ever solve. Cruel ,shirtsided, stupid and greedy, thats the Republican party. And even if the elderly do none of these things, they have a right to life. Something that the Republican party screams about every fucking day.

I didn't hear Dan Patrick volunteering to go first. He's a grandparent too.

Reminds me of the mass suicide of the elderly in PJ James great novel Children of Men. Elderly/infirm citizens have become a burden; nursing homes are for the privileged few. The rest are expected and sometimes forced to commit suicide by taking part in a "quietus" (Council-sanctioned mass drowning) at the age of 60.

It occurs to me that what is really at the root of this nonsense is the fear that a collapsed economy will doom Tramp. And they will be without their racist, sexist, dirtbag, whore, leader.

Late to the party on this, and in any event not a novel an original observation, but I have to get it off my chest: lots of people say they would lay down their own lives for the greater good. And though I doubt that most people are really serious about that when the moment comes, at least you're making your own sacrifice. But it's another thing entirely to decide who else in your circle should lay down their lives for the greater good, and it's downright ghoulish to tell other people that they should accept that you have decided who should lay down their lives.
