Nobody Likes You, Donald Trump

In fact, they're all laughing at him. Laughing!

Poor Donald Trump just doesn't get the respect and love he deserves, which is why he lashes out like a big baby. Which, of course, most sane people don't like, but really impresses some of the other tots. Get ready for Trump to have a nice hissy over new polling in which he comes in fourth on the question, "Which president has done the best job during your lifetime?" He came in behind two Democrats and a dead guy.

Respondents to the Pew Research Center survey gave the top spot to Barack Obama, with 44 percent picking him first or second. Bill Clinton came in second (33 percent), then Ronald Reagan (32 percent). Not only was Trump fourth -- he was a distant fourth, with just 19 percent picking him as their first or second fave.

When broken down by generation, Trump fared no better. Millennials (defined by the poll as ages 22 to 37) overwhelmingly approve of Obama (62 percent), with Clinton second and Trump third, because Reagan wasn't president during most of their lifetimes. Gen-Xers (ages 38 to 53) tended to like Reagan most (53 percent), with Obama and Clinton next, and Trump again last. Folks over 55 also chose Reagan, because we're idiots. Among Trump's almost-peers, those 73 and over (fine, Trump's technically a Boomer at 72), Reagan is again on top, although JFK took second place, with Obama third and Trump in fourth again, poor guy. (What is Roosevelt, chopped liver? You are being idiots like my bosses in Gen X.)

At least perhaps Trump can take some solace from the fact that across generations, he's considered better than either of the George Bushes. That's about it, though. Boy, people dislike those guys! He'll probably be prancing up and down the aisles of Air Force One, showing a closely cropped version of the charts to reporters and shouting "Look, nobody misses them!"

The results by party aren't surprising, either; while Republicans still think much more highly of Reagan (57 percent), Trump at least came in second favorite (40 percent), because the other options were either the two Bushes or icky Democrats. Among Democrats, Obama was the big star, with 71 percent calling him best, and of course Clinton second at 49 percent. Trump could play his second-favorite status with Republicans as only natural, since who could top Reagan, but he's Trump, so if he's asked about it, expect him to find something nasty to say about the Gipper. They knew Trump was a snake when they let him in.

Vox's summary of the survey ends on a pleasantly passive-aggressive note about how opinions change over time:

But there's also hope for Trump: Only 20 percent of respondents thought Obama was the best or second-best president when Pew conducted a similar survey in 2011 , during Obama's first term. So Trump still has some time to dismantle Obama's legacy here, too.

We bet once Trump bans abortion, rescinds marriage equality, and clamps down on the free press, his numbers will go through the roof. Especially once all polling must be approved by the Republican National Committee.
