When she was first elected as Governor she was nonpartisan, and was easy for the Democrats and Republicans to work with. She was very progressive. She took on the Oil Companies over taxes, their use of contractors from the south, Alaskans not working in the oil patch etc. She hired a friend of mine as Commissioner of Labor, she pushed all state agencies to hire unskilled help in craft positions and train them as genuine apprentice's. After the losing the election with McCain, she became insufferable, everyone as glad to see her quit.

I met Todd in Prudhoe Bay years ago. He worked for BP at the time, they were organizing a Union in their workplace. I was working as a Union goon at the time. I liked him, he was, and is a decent person.

I can remember many Christmas's where the presents under the tree were food we wouldn't normally buy. There was no form of welfare that I remember. If you didn't hunt or fish, there was no meat. Both my parents worked, as we did as soon as we were old enough. When I was 6 I went commercial fishing with my father and older brother. I hate salmon to this day.
