Joel Osteen went to Oral Roberts University for one year as a radio and television communications student, then dropped out. That's it. Yet he calls himself a pastor.
Greg Laurie FOUNDED a church AT THE AGE OF 19. Today that church, Harvest Christian Fellowship, is one of the largest churches in the US. Laurie is still its "pastor." He has an honorary doctorate degree from Biola University and another one from Azusa Pacific University. Honorary my ass.
There are some others who do have masters and doctorate degrees. Usually those are ordained within mainline churches.
Those I can respect, because I have seen the hard work that's required beyond just the M.Div in order to be ordained in a mainline church. And to become a board certified chaplain requires even more work.
