Some things are too sad to snark at.

If you asked we assume so.

The only legitimate use for deadly force is to protect innocent life whether it is a third party or the officer themselves. I think one of the side effect of every Tom Dick and Harry packing a handgun is that the average constable is understandably jumpy. Additionally many of today's law enforcement professionals are being trained to have a "warriors mindset" the upshot of which is that without hyper vigilance any traffic stop could be their last. Everytime I see a Police car in my rearview I am very unsettled.

The people who own those bodycams should have the right to see what they recorded.

Let's see, who bought those bodycams? Oh, yeah. Us.

"He has been arrested multiple times. Just because he’s white and deaf, it doesn’t mean he can’t be a lowlife like a black guy can.”

Even when Black people aren't involved, someone's gotta blame us anyway.

One explanation of the car nearly spinning out of control is if the officer tried a PIT maneuver.

It would be safer if you were a hamster driving a Soul.

Maybe it's time to invest in a hamster costume.

Maybe the officer knew sign language and the guy was signing, "I have a gun and I'm going to kill you..."

We have a huge criminal organization, called law enforcement officers, that is populated by serial killers, and violence addicts. If you are in shooting distance of a cop, you are in danger of being murdered. If you are black, you are assured of being murdered. Apparently only 30 percent of the population, can see that this is true. I predict, that percentage will get larger in the future. I think that the whole police force, and in fact the whole justice system, is fully aware of this fact, but they have to have them, to protect the system, while they rob the populace in the courts. To those who disagree, take the time to research it on Google. Most of your cops are gung ho marines, that developed a taste for killing in the armed service. If left alone, they will only get much worse.

BTW, none of the snickering garbage written about this poor man, and his family's loss, is the least bit funny. Suppose it were your dad, or brother. Would you be cracking jokes then?

The USA Today article criticizing the cop happened to include the link to the police report. The deaf guy was driving crazy, up to 100 mph running others off the road and himself too, the cop spun him out twice and he ran again and again. Then in the driveway the cop was hiding behind his door with gun exposed, giving commands, and the deaf guy SPRINTED at the cop, around the door, arm outstretched with a metal object in his hand, and chased the cop around behind the cop car before the cop fired once. This does not sound like an innocent deaf man trying peaceably to communicate by ASL. The fact that he's a father does not make him an innocent victim. Someone needs to teach deaf people to pull over and obey the police instead of drive at 100 mph and put other motorists and pedestrians in harm's way to get away from a cop. I NEVER got out of my vehicle when pulled over for speeding a few times in my youth. I was 100% respectful and cooperative. To keep running after a cop car forcibly spins out your vehicle, that's what people do when they have something to hide and have zero respect for authority. There's always a first offence that isn't on the rap sheet yet, and they REALLY don't want caught. There's much more to this story than the headlines. Many important details are missing in this article....look at the police report for yourself. My husband says most people don't have the attention span to read more than the headlines.

You're right. No one should be mocking, only discussing provable facts, including the police report and other sources of provable evidence. It's always sad when people get hurt, even if it's justice occurring. Prevention is better. Why does anyone run from the cops? I'd never dare do anything but meekly & quickly cooperate. I don't understand why anyone thinks it's OK to do otherwise.

Amy did it ever occur to you that the police lie like dogs, when it comes to making excuses for their killing some innocent citizen? I personally would not believe them unless it was backed up by several witnesses who had no reason to lie. I have been around a lot of cops, and I have yet to find an honest one. You also talk about what you would do if it were you in this situation, but it never seems to cross your mind that others are not like yourself, and maybe should not be, or can't. Are you deaf? If not, then you have no right to condemn this poor person who was murdered by a probable violence junkie, serial killer, cop.

You think zero cops are honest? Zero cops actually care about protecting innocent people? Where do you live? Why are you around a lot of cops? I am not. I rarely interact with them since I stay out of trouble. Except my brother in law is a police officer. When a deaf guy's car is spun out by the cop twice and other people in that town actually saw the deaf guy's car driving wildly and the cop car's front end smoking, something says to me that there ARE witnesses that the deaf guy was up to no good. There were witnesses of him driving 100 mph and running another driver off the road. The guy was shot BEHIND the cop car, not by his own vehicle. When a cop spins your car out twice on the open road, you have NO EXCUSE to think he doesn't want to talk to you about a violation. If the deaf guy was going 100mph, he obviously had ZERO concern for the safety of other motorists. His hearing loss had zero to do with this situation before he arrived home. I have never gotten out of my car to communicate with the police during a traffic stop. The cop comes up to your window and talks to you, and you roll down the window and talk to them, in sign if that is what you know, and cops know that a person speaks ASL right away. Only bad or irrational people run from the cops. Good, innocent people do not drive 100mph weaving in and out of traffic on purpose. That is dangerous and inconsiderate of others. You don't need to be deaf to understand that was stupid and criminal behavior. If you don't want to get shot by the police, don't run from them or at them. If the neighbor saw the deaf guy nearly wreck his car in the neighborhood pulling into his driveway, then he probably saw him run at the cop too. It is a fact that the deaf guy was injured NOT near his own vehicle but behind the cop car. The cop didn't shoot him at the guy's vehicle then drag him to near the street to seem all innocent. To distrust all police is a very strange attitude. Yes, there is some bad people in all professions, but ALL cops dishonest and out to terrorize America and kill as many people as possible? That's schizophrenic and traitorous.

"It is traitorous to not trust cops." That is an idiotic thing to say. You keep holding yourself up as the pattern for behavior for everybody. That is ludicrous. To blindly except that the police are somehow above reproach, is just as bad as schizophrenia, and dangerous. I was in Denver Colorado back in the 60's. They had to fire nearly the whole police force, because they were rotten to the core. They used their position to commit burglaries, time and time again, and that was just the tip of the iceberg. I have been around numerous cops over my 70 odd years of life, and I have found them to be permeated by violence junkies, and power freaks. In my youth, I served as fill in for the town marshal a few times. The longer I was around, the more I saw what they really were. In my opinion, most of them don't give a damn about anyone but themselves. I fear you may be of the same opinion as they are. If someone does something differently then yourself, then they instantly become fair game for murder by cop. After all, you are the epitome of citizenship. You better hope you never find yourself on the other side of the blue line.
