Two Democrats did this in Florida just as soon as their races were called. This is a Republican plan nowadays. Run and as soon as you are elected change your stance on every issue . And they claim to be Christians
I wish you would not repeat RWNJ talking points like "more than 200,000 unhoused" without doing some journalistic checking.
Lightly damaged is doing a lot of lifting in that "100,000 homes that were destroyed or damaged [by Helen]"
And there's a whole ecosystem of shady people grifting off the allegedly massive needs of Helen victims allegedly freezing their asses off because FEMA is allegedly useless and/or allegedly deliberately ignoring their needs. Or because they would rather camp next ro their homes than use FEMA help, whether for actual practical reasons or for fear that FEMA will steal their land and their children under pretense of helping them.
But while solid numbers are amazingly hard to come by, the partial figures that are available paint a different picture.
For instance, Buncombe County, the heavily populated county that incurred about half the casualties of Helen, registered "fewer" than 700 residential buildings as either destroyed (294) or severely damaged.
I agree. I find soda pretty boring, unless it has something unusual about it. Moxie is about the only soda I'll drink, maybe 3-4 a year. I do remember Cheerwine being interesting enough.
I haven't spoken to my neighbor since a few weeks before the election. His church told him what his voting choice would be. I told him I would never vote for Trump, because of the massive danger to our democracy. He said that was okay, because then democrats wouldn't control the country anymore.
It was then I realized that he didn't actually know what a democracy was.
There are lots of smart people here in NC, but holy shit there are also some dangerously dumb ones.
Republicans are not in the least bothered about any of this. Why do they even pretend to care about the form of government that pays them yo be so blatantly corrupt??
And to think I was so happy to see the election results from my Blue Dot perch in this turbulent, relentless Sea of Red. North Carolina, you make me so tired.
This is how they roll whenever legislatures and governments are controlled by the unreconstructed party. That's how they keep these states unreconstructed, and their Republicans will fall together to keep that hold on power.
Of course there may be other Tricia Cothams out there too, so beware.
Let's hope they can be derailed from overriding the veto.
The veto override vote is on the House calendar for 12/9. If you care to contact any NC legislators, here they are: https://ncleg.gov/Members/MemberList/H

Cheerwine does not entirely suck. I know, radical opinion. I suppose all of these are going to be challenged. But the suck Supremes will accept it.

Ta, Marcie. NC is beautiful, but not very bright.
Speaking of that....

This explains a lot.
I'm a born and bred Yankee from PA who spends a bit of time in NC. It's a blue state that aint' sure it's a blue state.

The GQP is doing their best to turn it into the "Shitheel State."
Finally, something they know a bit about!

Appearances. Their voters are under the impression it’s still democracy.

"self-proclaimed “Black NAZI,”"
When two genres of exploitation cinema meet.

It's a NINO state: "North" in name only.
'North' meaning 'closer to those damned Yankees than the other Carolina.'
“North of No South”
Congratulations Marcie...
