The 2010 election continues to wreak havoc, not only in this state, but around the country. If the Dems don't get out in force in 2018 to begin reversing course within these state legislatures, we're in serious trouble.
Simple answer: the GOP and their owners have been pushing BE SCARED for a century. They lost their big bugaboo when the USSR collapsed, but 9/11 was *more* than everything they wanted. So they, with overwhelming help from Faux and Limberger, have been screaming BE AFWAID, BE VEWWY AFWAID for over 15 years... so they are.

What a strange coincidence the the N.C. GOP waited until after a Democrat won the Governor's race to reduce the power of the Governor and give some of it to themselves in the state house.
Article in the NYT, that the Dem winner is threatening to sue the state GOP. Also, that the Dems in the legislature were surprised by the extra special session.
