i dunno if a guy that looks like he does should be commenting on other people appearances.

So, has he passed executive orders turning back every progressive accomplishment for the last 150 years? No? What sort of acting Governor is this shithead?

I get he his a hideous bigot, a literal Holocaust denier, and the worst kind of filth. No argument there.

But ... one of these things is not like the other:"First Lady Michelle Obama, singer Taylor Swift and Vice President Kamala Harris."

Does he think Taylor Swift is black because she sings so well?

Here's what is even more scary. He is very intelligent. He just got a BA in History last year and his professors are baffled about his political persona vs. his college student persona.

So Mark Robinson thinks that Michelle Obama emanates "the stench of human waste," huh? These Republicans -- everything with them is projection, projection, projection...

David Duke sans white supremacy. Seems like some incredible thin ice for a black man to be standing on.

I'm not sure Jesse Helms could win a Republican primary in NC anymore...and coming from a born and bred Tar Heel boomer, that's just insane.

After all, this type of discourse is exactly what Republicans mean about making America "great again"

This is only the tip of the iceberg on hate, racism, violence, misogyny, transphobia, gay bashing, and bigotry Robinson peddles in. We had a choice of a well qualified Black woman who stood for equality and concern for all North Carolina citizens and we picked this sewer dweller. But re-elected a moderate leaning towards liberal Democratic governor.

I'm still stuck at "drag queen from Brokeback Mountain." Either I slept through that scene, or it was edited out and what Robinson saw was the full director's cut, or -- and I consider this one to be not entirely lacking in credibility -- Robinson has never seen the movie but has heard that it's about gay men and assumes that there are drag queens in it because the concepts "gay" and "drag queen" are so conflated in his head that he's no longer able to tell the difference.

(I'll bet he REALLY hates "Our Flag Means Death," which actually does have at least one drag queen.)

No, he didn't see the movie. Equal parts fear someone he knew would see him there and raise questions, and fear of unwanted physical reactions to the plot.

He also remembers the brunch scene in Brokeback Mountain.

(I love "Our Flag Means Death." Got all caught up on it last night.)

And that great scene where Jack sings to Ennis about the circle of life.

(We tried to hold off until the end of the season so we could binge-watch it, but we love it so much that we couldn't wait, so we're week-by-week now. The thing I love most is the way they completely normalize the same-sex relationships. The fact that they're same-sex just isn't part of the plot at all.)

Ditto. I also loved the way Stede and Mary's relationship shifted from an awkward and occasionally acrimonious marriage to a mutually supportive friendship.

I mean, Robinson would probably become governor for real, because Republican voters understand the assignment. And Independents are really just Republicans who are shy at saying so. Always assume a Republican can win, no matter the state makeup.

Democrats need to vote.

Um, untrue about independents. Some of us skew way to the left but don't like partisan politics.

You can not decide between anthrax and tire rims vs, say, burgers for dinner?

You sometimes can not choose between mutilation or a nice stroll?

It is not a hard choice.

I don't understand your comment. I have no problems deciding between good and evil. I always vote Dem because there are no better alternatives. I have no problem choosing to be unaffiliated either.

That's fair. It just feels like every time we get 'independent' panelists in debates they always have right wing bullshit.

That said, given now the asymmetry between the major parties in the USA, folks are going to have to get their feet wet in partisan politics, especially the way the electoral system is designed.

And yet somehow they will vote this right wingnut in. OR, if the good people of NC finally see that he's a racist and antisemite and he does lose them all his followers will cry about how the "woke" crowd killed his chances as though he was never responsible for his reprehensible actions and words.

Sentient excrement is a reality.

I wish I could contact the white woman who loves him, to let her know that he does NOT love her, or any other female human being, but I doubt she'd believe me. She hates the same people he openly hates.
