Trump wants to revisit the glory days of coal and oil. Here is London in 1952 as a result of coal to heat homes. "The Veiled City"

In December 1952, London experienced the Great Smog, a severe air pollution event that lasted for five days and resulted in thousands of deaths. This episode was caused by a combination of weather conditions and high levels of pollution from coal burning. The smog was so dense that it severely impacted transportation, halted daily life, and led to a significant increase in respiratory illnesses and deaths.

If we forget our history, we will repeat stuff like this.

Yet another awesome piece, Lord Dok of Zoom! 10 outta 10!

FWIW (in ref to yer PhD in Rhetoric) 9 times out of 10 when I say "I was being rhetorical" the other person seems to think I mean "I was being sarcastic" or worse or way, way worse.😂

Trump's not a fascist. Just a crooked high pressure salesman. There used to be lots of guys just like him roaming around selling encyclopedias, vacuum cleaners. cleaning supplies and aluminum siding.

Just got back from vacation in Amsterdam and Copenhagen and saw lots of electric vehicles (including lots of e-bikes) and charging stations everywhere. I've also been seeing lots of news about solid-state batteries, which would be a game changer in the EV market, but is probably 5 years off.

Difficult when you live in a flat and park on the street. EV's are for rich people.

This is a huge problem, and I don't see any real attempts to address lack of charging options for people who don't have garages for their cars.

Obviously the goal will be to enable charging that takes as much (read: as little) time as it takes to fill up a tank at a gas station. But my engineering napkin says that requires a metric shit-ton of on-demand current to charge batteries that can handle that charge rate. This is the next technology hurdle.

And remember one of the biggest concerns many Americans have is that EVs can’t work in cold climates… Norway seems pretty cold.

Government policy does matter. I finally replaced a 21 year old car. Was planning to go electric at the end of the summer, but instead, thanks to the orange turnip and his policies, both anti-green and stupid-tariffs, I chose a traditional internal combustion engine last month. Maybe I’ll replace this new car with an electric model in twenty years. By then I might be old enough to appreciate a self-driving model, should someone competent (not Tesla) ever get that to work.

"Gabbard considering ways to revamp Trump's intelligence briefing

One idea is to make the briefing, which according to his schedule Trump has been taking less often than his predecessors, a video that looks like Fox News."

I suggest cartoons.

Woke up and checked Bluesky.

I see that Joni Ernst had not only doubled down on saying "we're all going to die" but has sent out a deeply obnoxious and condescending video in which she mocks people for worrying about the deaths her actions will lead to, and simultaneously tries to proselytise to them.

And that Trump has reTruthed a comment about how Biden was executed in 2020 and replaced with a series of clones and/or robots.

"But for those that would like to see eternal and everlasting life, I encourage you to embrace my lord and savior, Jesus Christ."

You don't need Medicaid, you don't need to see a doctor, you need to see Jesus, preferably in person and sooner rather than later, says the millionaire Senator with the gold-level taxpayer-subsidized health insurance coverage.
