The wallpaper on my phone is one of Kidby's illustrations. Specifically, Death petting a tiny, tabby kitten. Death is delightful, death sucks out loud.
Just so sad this week. (also am slightly drunk due to local wine and food show tonight that was much heavier on the wine). I am listening to the Wonkette curated Bowie playlist as I plan my Rickman film fest for the weekend. Slightly good news-he does have another movie coming out in February, Eye in the Sky directed by Gavin Hood. I saw it at TIFF last year and was VERY impressed.
You are so right. There's not going to be any "magic bullet" blanket cure for cancer. Not even for the 1% with the bucks for the best medical care. David Bowie and Alan Rickman weren't paupers.
Thanks for the pic at the top. Every article mentions Die Hard, Harry Potter, and Robin Hood. Rickman was so good in Galaxy Quest. (And Dogma, of course, from the end of the article.)
I went to see Private Lives in New York specifically to see Alan Rickman. The show wa brilliant, but what I remember most was the way he stayed at the stage door after the show until everyone who wanted an autograph got one--even the weird black chick who asked him to sign her Snape action figure. He was incredibly gracious.
This week sucks. I'm gonna get drunk, watch Galaxy Quest and Hitchhiker's Guide (Yeah yeah, I know. But Rickman was perfect in that.), and listen to a few Bowie albums.
sigh. Cancer is sucking all the joy out of life.
Even if there is a clinical trial, you often can't get in... trust me. Even if you are terminal.
I would have liked to see Alan Rickman debate Donald Trump.

I'm so sorry, Suse. I hope your husband responds well to treatment. And fuck cancer.

We know it's not Freddy Mercury. He's already gone.
That thing on Trump's head might be one of them.

FUCK YOU CANCER YOU FUCKING FUCK
watch him in "Blowdry". It's a movie never mentioned.
That really makes no sense.

Hey, cancer: go listen to some Vogon poetry.
Loved me some Rickman, even as a bad guy, he made you laugh out loud. His technique was priceless. Will miss him much.
