The grand jury watches the news - they know what fuckery is afoot, and they won't indict.

Well thanks Varney! Now I'm DEFINITELY voting for Warren!

And all those "unnecessary, burdensome regulations."

Same. I own my own company, as does my husband, and we figured out a long time ago that no one is going to provide a safety net for us. So we squirrel away as much as we can. If I ever get to the point where Warren's tax plans hit me, I'll raise my glass of overpriced bubbly and toast both her and our good fortune.

Why, at that rate, they won't be able to afford to buy a new sun when the current one burns out!

And while I'm digging through the quote file:

All my personal investments are in β€œESG” funds...ones which specifically invest in companies which use criteria of Environmental, Social or good Governance as at least part of their business model. In general my returns lag the market by a percent or two. And I’m OK with that, because, guess what? Making slightly less money is still making money! Socialism!!

I've got a funny old memory. When Chrysler got a big loan from the government to keep it from going under, the autoworkers union made huge compromises in its turn to keep things going. And what do you suppose happened? The company got back on its feet and were able to pay back the loan well in advance of the proposed. But rather than pay back the loan ahead of time, the union workers believed they should start getting paid their regular scale again, and I think that too, because the government didn't need that money. But like little hierarchical nerds, the corporation wanted to pay the money back first and then sometime in the distant future make things right with its own workers. At a triumphant press conference announcing the repayment, some rough guy-- some executive I guess but he wasn't very smooth and it wasn't Lee Iacocca-- he referred to the union's complaints and he said, "They want to go back to their regular contract," speaking in disbelief. "We've worked so hard to get this done-- we're not about to throw it all away!" It's a long story but-- this kind of person, like him and Stuart Varney-- do not think working people exist as-- as anything.

What a gross photo. I remember Geo. Bush's son being so squalid with his own Savings and Loan. I'd have been so embarrassed but I suppose it was a routine kind of business in their circles and he'd just been bad at it and they weren't really embarrassed. God what could they be laughing at? Are they all realizing they all know exactly how Margaret Thatcher snored?

I knew there was something so lame about that word.

I used to pay 1/3 of my income in health insurance before I got Medicare and after Obamacare arrived I was still on it, but every few months I'd get a random check for $200 or so never less, bc my company had been found to be spending too much on lobbyists vs patient care!! Oh, and also, tho I was still in that policy, they were prevented from charging me in the same way so my premium went down. I kept telling people about this, and writing about how great it was, but it was a side of Obamacare that wasn't publicized, I thought maybe Obamacare didn't want to be seen as a tormentor of the companies. It was so great tho! Fun too because that company-- the only one that would insure me-- was such a bastard-- sending out messages trying to scare its clients about how it wouldn't let the new changes deprive us of our excellent coverage, which was so bad.

Maybe a letter writing campaign would help. I'll write letters if someone tells me when to do it.
