before it is eaten is not even considered. What concerned him was the stuff added to food, esp processed food. Now we see processed food can trigger intestine and colon disease to some
people. But they're not sure of all the factors that cause it. Maybe a genetic predisposition.
IOW, shit is getting more complicated. And less real food isn't helping. Now in another million years, we may evolve to deal with most of that. As species do. So that is comforting. NOT !!

When NVIDIA has to lend the money to OpenAI and Anthropic to buy NVIDIA chips, that's a problem. When the Ellisons have to put up their Oracle stock as collateral on loans to OpenAI and Anthropic to finance the data centers, and then Oracle stock loses half its value in two months; that's a problem.
A growing number of people, besides Zitron, are predicting that OpenAI folds within 18 months, to be absorbed into Microsoft (after debt discharge via bankruptcy, of course). And if that happens, at least a trillion bucks vanishes.
Not to mention all the stranded assets. None of these ginormous data centers being proclaimed will be built, much less operational. This will bone every entity involved, including local and state governments that have underwritten a lot of costs that will never be repaid.
It's gonna be ugly. The Oligarchs think they're going to get bailed out, which might also be true, but that's a well we've gone to many, many times already. There will be consequences for that, too.
My gut feeling is the oligarchs won't get bailed out. Unlike the banks, if "AI" disappears tomorrow, nothing of the *real* economy would be affected. All the VCs in the valley will be boned for a very long time.
We have harvested our zucchini and are clearing the space for more greens. The peppers and beans are producing well. Of course, the herbs exist in another reality ...
